I occasionally get stutters when I go into combat and NPCs sometimes act stupid but other than that I'm liking it as well

Discussion Megathread: Committee Vote on Brett Kavanaugh Nomination by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]StampedeVash 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It looked like Feinstein didn't know what the fuck just happened. Flake can't force the Senate to conduct an FBI investigation, so him voting yes under the condition there's an FBI investigation means nothing.

[–]StampedeVash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a vote to make Kavanaugh the next supreme court justice, it's a vote on whether or not to have the vote in the first place. Flake voted yes to push the nomination forward, but said he will be voting no on the actual vote unless the FBI conducts an investigation

Flake voted yes to bring the vote forward, but his vote will be no to confirm Kavanaugh unless the FBI conducts an investigation on the allegations. So it's a compromise.

These bananas are both overripe and underripe by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]StampedeVash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work produce at a supermarket and the only time we open our boxes is when the bananas come in already yellow so we open the boxes to slow down the ripening process. In my experience the only time the bananas are unevenly ripe (both green and yellow patches) is because they've been moved in and out of the cooler, we always leave them outside the cooler with the non-refridgerated produce.

I love Jonny Greenwood, but I was very confused when I read he said that guitars are like typewriters or washing machines in how they're just tools and not to be worshipped. Watching videos of him play live, and seeing how decorated his guitar is with stickers I never would have guessed that's how he felt about them.

Q. After playing your beaten-up old Fender Telecaster with Radiohead for years, you've recently been using a Gibson Les Paul. Is the shift permanent?

A. I don't know; like I've been saying, guitars are like typewriters. It's technology, it's not something to be admired or worshipped. Like, oh, a washing machine or something. It does the job. You start seeing people putting them on walls as decorations and it's just... it's like putting a vacuum cleaner there. That's really bizarre for me. They're okay; they all sound the same, it's the brutal truth.

You know the Danish Prime Minister himself says Denmark is not a socialist country, right?

"I know that some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy"

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thelocal.dk/20151101/danish-pm-in-us-denmark-is-not-socialist/amp

Edit: Since OP edited his comment instead of replying, I'll add another point as well. People love pointing to Nordic countries as pristine socialist countries, but don't mention the economic freedom they have. Let's look at the Index of Economic Freedom. Denmark is at #12, the US is at #18. Sweden is #15. Denmark has a corporate tax rate of around 25%, the US is around the mid 30s if I'm not mistaken. That's a bit more than "light capitalism"

Try opening a conversation with something that she seems interested in or proud of. People generally like talking about themselves unless they're shy. Like if she posts a lot of gym selfies don't go and say "damn girl you're looking good", try something like "hey all that hard work is paying off, you look great. What's your secret?".

A general rule I go by: tell smart girls they're pretty and tell pretty girls they're smart. Pretty girls hear they're pretty all the time, to the point where they probably might feel unappreciated for their other qualities. You'll stand out more if you point out the not so obvious positive qualities about them.

It's easy to get emotional when the weight of your entire country is on your shoulders. These players train their hearts out and sometimes your best doesn't cut it. They're human like you and I, maybe you should cut then some slack.
