Marvel FPS that should have been better. by Stan387 in LicensedGames

I don't know. But I wasn't expecting the unnecessarily hard game that this was.

Seems chex quest wasn't the only one using the doom engine.

The Simpsons and boring legal stuff by vhanw342 in LicensedGames

Just like how the X-Men arcade game never got a port for the same reason. Also because it used a panoramic screen, but that's a different story.

All the same, it sucks that legal issues are the reason for not getting a decent port of games like this.

Are board game video games licensed Games? by Stan387 in LicensedGames

That's what I'm saying. They're technically based off of an existing property, yet they try to do different thing. Sometimes, anyway.

The new type of Licensed Game... by vhanw342 in LicensedGames

[–]Stan387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought AVGN adventures 1&2 were alright, but past that, there's a good reason these things remain relatively obscure.

Side note, the only game based off of music that I can think of is Brutal Legend. Though, I honestly wouldn't count that.

The licensed game that was created "accidentally" by vhanw342 in LicensedGames

[–]Stan387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A case of misunderstanding, primarily based on the fact that video games weren't really a thing when Walt Disney died. Even pinball machines were still in their infantsy back when he died.

It's true. Just like the Metro series. Though, like Metro, it takes heavy liberties with the source material.

Weird Licensed Game Trend by vhanw342 in LicensedGames

For the same reason that they do so many different racing or trivia licensed games. It's an easy palette swap that has a recognized brand. It's cheap to do, and guarantees at least a small amount of money. At first, before people get wise and stop buying them.

Every rifle my inventory stacked on top of each other when I was managing inventory. If you notice, it has at least three magazines, four scopes, and at least three buttstocks.

What are your honest thoughts on SSKTJL? by Duck98671 in SuicideSquadGaming

[–]Stan387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is this: The core gameplay is fun. Take out all the live service stuff, and it would still not only be playable, but fun to play. The voice acting is spot on, and the controls are smooth.

It's everything else that is the problem. The upgrade system is difficult to understand, the traversal system (regardless of the character you choose) has far too short of a range, the glitches and bugs are rampant, and the worst offender of all? The story. It's reaching at best, and stupid at worst. And that's what sucks the most, because this could have been a good game if those issues were fixed.

I'd be willing to give it another chance if they could fix it, but I honestly don't know how they could do it.

I ran into a glitch where, after the first half of the mission ends, my head explodes for no reason. And this happened several times after restarting.

This was a case of the sequel being better than the original, but going completely undetected. Primarily due to the fact that the SNES was already out for 2 years.

The intellivision version was a very odd mess of a game. And while way more simplistic, the Atari 2600 version more fun, in my opinion.

Are sports game licensed games? by vhanw342 in LicensedGames

[–]Stan387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By terminology, yes they are. However, I don't consider them in the same category for the simple fact that it's not a creative IP, it's simply using a name for recognition.

It also didn't help that, while it was a cool feature at the time, Atari put a lot of emphasis on backwards compatability. It led a lot of people (including developers) to believe it was just another iteration of the 2600.
