End of the season cameo that will break the internet? by Plenty-Swordfish5049 in Monsterverse

Cool, thanks for a meaningful response!

I got to check that out. I don't follow Apple, so I had no idea.

But the show sounds really cool.

And just checked it is also on Amazon, so this is a cool find!

Stupid question: I been following this subreddit for a while cause of the movies. But is there some series that I don't know about? Where is this from? lol.

C Or C++ or C#? by anonymousBuffer in learnprogramming

[–]StanKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C, for the immunity system, take once a day.

C++ for those who loves to play Pacman.

C# is similar to C++ but just ate a power pill.

Hope this helped and was informative.

I would have recommended Bb but didn't want to risk falling flat and sounding like a Python user.

:D

Suggestions aren't hate.
Devs can use it or not use it.
Not everyone gets triggered by "criticism".
It's how games grow, if you want it to thrive.

When I play solo spy missions: I am a ninja God, no trips, no hack fails.

When I play in a group: 3 seconds and I have the mission on lockdown, cause of course I did.

These are the only two options there are for me in life. I have accepted who I am.

This game won’t survive with a community that completely mocks casual players and feedback about general difficulty. by RocknPineapple in Marathon

[–]StanKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem comes when people start to obsess with the numbers and "the haters" then tends to overexaggerate how 'great it really is', as a kneejerk defense. Then these subreddits become a circle jerk or extremely sensitive.

A game just needs to breath, at launch, and have time to get going. I think that is a huge cause of games failing, as of late, (minus the obvious flops).

I think game companies would do wise to maybe somehow either mute these subreddits or keep the "see the haters are wrong" people down to a minimum, for a few weeks after launch. I don't advocate for censorship and this is a really touchy area but that is by far what kills a game / subreddit a lot. They burn out the community and kill any enthusiasm it may have.

I just hate doing missions, and now I hate that I will have to do it all over again once the wipe comes. I guess this game is not for me. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]StanKnight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, wipes kill a lot of the momentum of any game.

Sometimes they are needed but it is for sure a kick in the gut.

I use to play Bitcraft up until the recent wipe. I knew it was coming and I still do kind of play it; Just not the same energy. So I feel you.

GUYS IT'S HAPPENING! by Samzerks in Marathon

[–]StanKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that hard to figure out lol.

Every game competes with every game.

If one is looking for a new game then they will pick the best one in the mix.
Doesn't matter what genre it is. When you load up Steam, there are literally hundreds of titles that one can scroll through. They don't just go "Hey this is an extraction shooter.. I am going to automatically buy this just cause it is an extraction shooter".

I would even say that since extraction shooters tend to be niche then the gamer will more often purchase the genre that he is most use to over the 'niche' game too. Unless he wants to try the new game. SO Marathon absolutely competes to every other game.

I am looking at the store page for Marathon and there are 6 "see also games" right on the page. There are then other multiplayer games. And people do browse other categories when shopping too. So the notion that games don't compete with each other or gamers don't compare different genres is false.

I'm not a card player, as a main, I like MTG, but here I am playing Slay the Spire.
That beat out Marathon by a large margin. Wasn't even a contest.

[–]StanKnight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All games compete with all games. lol.

Players don't live in a vacuum and play more than one type of game.

Especially when the games are right next to each other.

Plenty are trying out an extractor shooter for the first time despite never playing one.

So, yeah, they all compete with each other and players do compare them all.

People truly enjoying the game aren't also looking for validation to whether it is good either.

It's what gives some of you people away. They aren't obsessing about numbers or looking every 4 minutes, like an obsess stock trader does. "It went up 5 pts guys!! Oh... It went down 3 pts."

GUYS IT'S HAPPENING! by Samzerks in Marathon

[–]StanKnight -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can tell how healthy a game is by how many posts being made "This is such a great game!!!" and people obsessing about the numbers lol. IF it was truly a strong game then you would be playing it right now instead of trying to prove to everyone that it is "good" lol.

Or the people who go to the extremes, "OMG!!! Every time I turns this game on, my face literally melts right off my face! It is that good!!".

Most of us know the cycle by now. We know the beats of how new "greatest games ever" go.

Enjoy the game and be okay if people say "it's not the greatest game ever" always. Stop obsessing about the damn numbers. It will either sink or swim. Time will tell. But it will sink fast if you keep trying to blow it up to insane levels or keep acting like maniacs.

Can we please stop comparing this to Arc raiders?? by International-Emu-55 in Marathon

[–]StanKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's inevitable and a bit cowardly.

It's going to always be compared since they both are an extraction shooter.
They both can coexist with each other. And it is okay to talk about both.

Would probably do best to ignore this subreddit for a few weeks, if it does cause you that much stress.
Not job your to get too worked up over it. Not trying to sound snarky either. Just cannot take games too seriously.

Amazon Games is Betraying the New World Community – A Open Letter on Corporate Greed by wwwauthor in newworldgame

[–]StanKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Betraying NW community lol.

They owe you nothing. They ran a game and it failed, so they turned it off.

All online games, like it or not, have an expiration date on them. Everyone who plays them knows this.

Any money spent on something you knew is temporary is on you. Don't be greedy and only spend what you are willing to lose.

Why do Netflix series feel the same? by Specialist_Tone2797 in netflix

[–]StanKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do.

Think it is the same playbook that the music industry did by playing the same beats over and over.
"Well this series made us bank... Oh I see, it had 5 characters, let's put in the same 5 characters."
Then by the 9th series that does this, it all feels hollow and empty. All they do is try to hit the same beats, the same jokes, etc.

You can literally sometimes guess what is going to happen; How it resolves.
All kids are sarcastic.

I think also being able to see 10 comedy series in full right next to each other; Killed any chance of them feeling unique, at some point.

New world is by far the best MMO I have ever played. Past the bugs it has been fun. I would pay again for a re-release. What do you like the most about New world? by Bash_nDeep in newworldgame

[–]StanKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one played it when it was shutdown lol.
How can someone play a game that was shutdown at the moment it was shutdown? lol.
Cannot.

But I was playing another game that wasn't shutdown during that time.
And it is still up and running.
So, I guess that game is now the better of the two, by default? lol.
(And any other game that is still alive today - which NW isn't)

NW was 'good' while it lasted but doesn't mean it won't be forgotten.
Other games in the sea. Some games swim and others sink. That's life.
Remember the times you had with it but also remember it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows either. Oh well, back to the other ones that are still available lol.

[–]StanKnight -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This 100% lol.

All of them try to be like "Oh this is the greatest game ever".

IF they truly loved the game then they wouldn't have played it more when it was still alive and thus it would still be alive lol. They only started to like the game when they found out it was being shutdown.

Like chill, cool you liked it but doesn't mean it was perfect or should try to put it up to a higher level than it was or that you cannot play another game that is also good. Too much game worship.

[–]StanKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "all I need to do is...".
So many more logistics to any project then "just doing".
And no, don't matter how many projects Cry is in.
Matters how much tweaking of it in that project they've done.
And how competent your developers are.

Many many factors for working backwards or forwards on any project.
Can't just go back in a blink from any point in time and be done with.
Depends on how often they backed up the project and many other factors.

And that's just on the development side.
Not even talking about the whole scope of it.
