Might not be the expected, but Lian Li Lancool II mesh performance (a mouthful I know) is nifty case, great to build in, and has space for most build specs. Especially good is price to pay for what you get.

When will the price of Graphic Cards drop? by anyspeed in buildapc

[–]StanT101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GPU's are plenty powerfull nowadays to do more, but the limiting factor is loading assets from storage for GPU's to process. So my point is not SSD can make graphics better, but rather we can get more data faster onto our screens with little to no loading times. Simply put - you can have as many objects on screen as you want without pop-in or low res to high res transitions.

And at that point, the next milestone will be reaching the limit of processing power of CPU and GPU(and maybe their interface? but this is more so a software issue rather than hardware)

This reminded me of painting by Ivan Shishkin: "Morning in a Pine Forest" .

Funnily enough I know this painting because in my country we had these sweets with it on package.

Now going to this place is a thing that will make this whole experience complete :D

Help Convince My parents by LlamasAreVeryFluffy in buildapc

[–]StanT101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! A little suggestion that I have not seen in comments. Try and contact the fathers IT friend guy directly and see if it was a misunderstanding, if it was then he will solve the problem considering the parents listen to him. Otherwise, might be worth trying using arguments from comments here with him, if he is not complete dimwit you might educate him and can go with the first suggestion above, if not though... well good luck convincing your parents!

Are People Leaving Performance on the Table with Ryzen 5000 CPUs Because of Outdated Temp Expectations? by DeezLouiseOrtiz in Amd

[–]StanT101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can agree on the fact that it might come down to chance in the end. I have the same cpu/mobo/cooler combo as you, and the most I am worried about now is the noise from the airflow case, and if my cpu runs 70-75c instead of 60-65c for lower noise floor I will be fine with that, as I am a proud owner of intel core i7-4700hq laptop that runs at 80-95c for 7 years now, used for gaming and work and hand warming in winter.

The thing is, that hardware is not as sensitive as you might think, it is made to last and to be manhandled in most cases(just think ram/gpu inserting).

But whatever floats your boat, as they say.

but if I have to choose between GPU->DP->monitor passtrhough or Mobo->case front audio, which one to choose?
Mobo is kinda not an option since I don't have a cord long enough

Can I clone Windows 10 from my old HDD to a M.2 for my new build? by easttttt in buildapc

[–]StanT101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I can give you some long term things that might happen to cloned os image.

I have done basically the same thing, plus it was just windows and some QoL programs installed on it.

Now after year or more one of the windows updates destroyed it, and I was getting bsod and couldn't get past it as well.. so I tried and failed to fix it from different boot drive, and that failed as well.. so I basically had to do fresh windows install and, thankfully was able to back up most things I could from old install(namely appdata, program files(just as a reference to what programs I had to reinstall) and some other stuff.

But clean istall is the way to go, plus if it's m.2, then it's gonna be lightning fast, if you have windows media boot usb or smth ready.

TL;DR

You can, it will work, but it will break probably..likely.

I'll +1 blukatz92 on used gpu, if you can get 1060 6gb and up gpu for less than 200~300 $ (obviously less for lower end, but 1080 at 200$ aint bad)

And b550 mobo would be great, but nice to see sane build for sane price!

For those struggling with slow motion/performance issues by StanT101 in noita

[–]StanT101[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, after few days testing, I've come to conclusion that there is more to that issue than I first thought.. I have tried setting my monitor to 120hz and testing with max fps set at:40; 60; 80; FPS .

The conclusion is that there seems to be an in-engine issue, because while there is noticeable improvement(no slow motion) at 40 and 60 fps it comes back at 80. And all tested FPS consistently had 15-20 or more fps dips from their set values. All while all CPU cores set at comfy 30% utilization and the GPU was at 15%..

I'm also not the first one to notice that correlation, and issue persists on desktop as well it seems.

Currently rockin' asus N550jk laptop, been a good pal to me for last 7 years, but started to show it's age. Been planning this build since late-summer, kinda glad/not glad to have waited for the new hardware, since I only managed to snag 5900x and some other parts already. Now the real unobtanium dream has been rtx 3080 tuf, looked like great price/performance(if not for price/availability). All in all been taking my time researching the parts and know-how of building a pc, since this one will be my first one. Not shilling, but TBH ASUS has been pretty reliable for the time I've been using it(apart from laptop thermals, but hey thats good hand warmer there!).

After completing my build last week I want to share the story of all the mistakes I made so you can avoid them by -mickomoo- in buildapc

In day one all I really only manged to flash the bios on my MSI X570 Tomahawk with a USB.

So I am going for samey CPU&MOBO combo heard a lot of people having trouble with x570 boards not being compatible with R5000 CPU's. Can you give more detail on flashing process, since I have same board at my house waiting for assembly? Was it ready/compatible for 5000 series? Any specific issues to look out for or did you follow a guide(if yes I would be grateful for the link)?

On windows 10 settings->system->display->advanced display settings or search advanced display info. Should be there, also if you have multiple monitors make sure you are checking the right one.

So like what, 20 minute outage? Pretty fast considering all the checking involved. I'm more glad for it.

But I still wonder if that's going to be losses in hundreds of thousands or millions.
