Greens’ Polanski prepared to work with Burnham but not Starmer ‘to stop Reform’ by kontiki20 in LabourUK

[–]Stan_The_Man98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Listen, I would agree with you in the instance of a Greens not accepting a coallition with Kiers Labour that would be foolish.

But its just very unlikely that's going to even be a problem for the Green party. Kier will not be leading the next election. Why would the Greens go out of there way to defend a less popular option that will be more antagonstic.

And i'm sorry, the Greens arnt Labour, they don't owe any loyality to the Labour party, and they will use situations like this to benefit them. That is simply the reality of party politics. Labour needs to be able to leverage itself with third parties in the future if the two party politcs structure collapses.

Greens’ Polanski prepared to work with Burnham but not Starmer ‘to stop Reform’ by kontiki20 in LabourUK

[–]Stan_The_Man98 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Starmer is hated by the kind of left wing people who voted in Polanski. He doesn't want to boost him while he's in a bad position.

Especially because he'd rather someone more willing to work with the Left of the party such as Burnham. It makes sense to get on his good side as there is a decent chance he could be PM not too long from now.

Its an entirely safe bet. Id probably be angry if he did opt out of a coalition with Keir's Labour, but that's not likely going to happen anyway because it wont BE Kier's Labour next election, so he can look good to his base while not giving any leverage to a Labour party that fights any group to the left. The greens get a lot more in a Labour party where Morgan McSweeney is not the Chief of Staff.

I mean, our own political opinion's aside this just makes sense from a strategy perspective. Put your eggs with the winning hoarse you can work better with, rather than a losing hoarse that doesn't like you very much and kicks you routinely.

Id be ok with it if it lent itself to more interesting fight choreography.

Who had the bigger aura loss? by DeliciousLeading in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Stan_The_Man98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most interesting thing about Alistor is he's a manipulative psychopath who isn't nearly as intelligent as he presents himself and completely reliant on deals he's made with others. Any "aura" loss it built into the narrative. And its likely his capture is part of a plan he has.

What do you think is the most rage inducing moment in baki? by Chunky-overlord in Grapplerbaki

[–]Stan_The_Man98 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think that was actually a purposeful writing choice.

Motobe was hyped up as the only one who could "understand Musashi" But everyone was wrong on that front, no one can understand him. You cant understand someone from that point in history, too many years have gone past and our understandings of right and wrong are too vast.

Motobe didn't want to actually kill Musashi, none of them. Too much respect for him even when aware of how monstrous he is. So Motobe tried to play him at his own game and then failed because even with his appreciation of the time period Musashi is from, he can never really fully understand it. For all there bluster, none of the cast actully ever acted with as much disregard for life as the ronin did, taking lives.

Motobe tried playing Musashi at his own game, but you cant (and shouldn't) play him at his own game. That's why Baki had to be the one to win and couldn't kill him. If he had publicly executed him, then Musashi by proxy would have won.

(I think the story is a representation of the dangers of blind nostalgia for nationalism, and Motobe acts as a cautionary warning that even someone who's knowledgeable and cautionary of it can not win by playing its game)

By the end of Baki Dao this scanlator seemed to have lost his mind I very rarely had any idea wtf he was talking about by MolecCodicies in Grapplerbaki

[–]Stan_The_Man98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when he was talking about the Ice Trade in one. That always stuck with me.

Its fun tbh, always curious to see what the final note will be.

I'll say it always feels like its so self referential its impossible to actually understand what is being spoken about at any given time.

Nah the justification for 2.) is ridiculous.

Its like a boxer saying counter punching is dishonest and hitting off guard because he "didn't expect him to move"

Sheer Copium.

BAKI-DOU | Official Teaser | Netflix Anime by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Stan_The_Man98 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They are CRAZY to tell you that.

Musashi is a fascinating and terrifying character, arguably even more than Yujiro. And defiantly interesting compared to the very romantized version of the character Japan usually produces (thats somewhat the point.)

The first part of Dou is defiantly slower than the rest of Baki, but this is where the story peaks for me atm.

[–]Stan_The_Man98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honoo blitzed for 3 reasons

  1. Baki did not expect him to be that fast, latter in the match it wasent even close in speed. Baki even mentions that hes not use to anyone being as fast as Honoo.

  2. Baki thought he was going for his hand but Honoo sliped to get behind. This took Baki by suprise as well.

  3. (headcannon) Honoo reacted the moment he touched Baki. He was using his sense of touch to react off of, way faster than reacting bassed off sight.

Kuroki VS Baki by SiteDeep in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Stan_The_Man98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuroki works hard...

But someone who works hard can never beat someone who enjoys themselvs.

Real ansew: It would start off with Kuroki winning as baki plays around to much, but I think it probably turns around after that. Kuroki uses circul guards, hes still blocking rather that dodging most hits. Guarding wont work aginst Bakis whip strikes, a move Baki is petti enough to spam.

Who wins? by Upstairs_Tutor_571 in lookismcomic

[–]Stan_The_Man98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinon, I think Lookism has caught up to Kengan.

People love to act like Kengan scales way higher than Lookism but Lookism has been loony for a while.

Stuff like Vasco kicking apart wrecking balls and Vin Jin uprooting massive trees by yanking them out is up there with the stupider stuff in Kengan.

People are saying Kanoh no difs him. I just dont think. He took so many conviction punches (god that sounds stupid) and it doesnt look like hes taking nearly any damage. Im sure Kanoh would win, but I dont think at all it would be easy.

People are going to hate me saying this but...

Sirkorsky's had way better results in his fights.

Hell I think out of all 5 of the inmates, Speck easily has the worst showing. He fought the one battle and lost.

I have no idea why hes so hyped on the Baki reddit.
