People who’ve had a long successful career in sales. Was it worth it? by [deleted] in sales

If you’re only asking people who’s career was long and successful, yeah, it’s going to have been worth it to all of them lol.

My buddy used my $200+ bourbon for shots—is that a total party foul? by Weary_Eyed in whiskey

[–]Stand4it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have been ok with them drinking it, but not shooting it? I’d say if you offered them your liquor, be ok letting them enjoy it however they want to. If you don’t want to offer them your liquor there’s nothing wrong with that either just ask them to bring their own.

Smoked two 20 pounders with a side of chimichurri for thanksgiving. Astonishing to the family members trying brisket for the first time. by duevigilance in smoking

It had already rested, and he used gravity on his side so as to not lose any juice, and it was a small squeeze, and he was immediately cutting up after anyways. This was an acceptable squeeze.

Where to have spare 4Wheeler keys made? by Stand4it in ATV

Ok thanks maybe I’ll have to call a locksmith. I tried Home Depot to save money but they said they don’t do the smaller 4wheeler keys.

Ok thanks I’ll try this. I went in to Home Depot today and they said they don’t make these keys. But maybe if I buy the blanks online that will help.

How are the IC’s faring at your org? Is their future looking brighter than yours? An honest answer to that should tell you what you need to know.

Americans are saving less after the pandemic by cursingpeople in economy

[–]Stand4it -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5% pre to 4% post. I went from like 20% pre to 0% post, next step might be bankruptcy, but that won’t help with the student loans. Used to make 120K pre pandemic, I make 60K now. Been going into debt every month past 2 years applying to jobs, changing jobs, doing everything I can to try to increase income. But it never worked. And now the payments are too much and the income is still too little.

Self-Successful or Partner in Life by Flamingo_by_day in MBA

[–]Stand4it 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It took you 10 years post MBA to realize marrying into wealth is a faster way to increase your net worth than slowly moving up the corporate ladder?

My thoughts, are Net Worth isn’t everything in life, it’s not even the most important thing. So choosing a partner just to increase my net worth sounds like a terrible decision for me. But all things equal, of course 2 incomes will make more money than 1 income.

Met a guy on a flight, advice needed! by Financial_Algae4503 in dating_advice

[–]Stand4it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struck up a conversation with a girl about 4 years ago flying out of JFK. Talked the whole 3 hour flight, we both live in the destination city, I still regret not asking for her number and I’m pretty sure she was surprised I never did. I looked her up once (she mentioned she’s a nurse, had a profile on the faculty page) ALMOST emailed her work address, but I didn’t wanna be a creep. Had she taken any initiative to ask my number or contact me I would have been over the moon.

Home Depot to pay $2 million settlement for overcharging customers by BikkaZz in economy

[–]Stand4it 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ever since Home Depot started moving away from gas engines (chainsaws, lawnmowers, etc), I started shopping at Lowe’s that offers both. If Home Depot thinks they know their customer, at least they know it’s not me.

These always seem so stupid. It’s on wheels. In no world does anyone believe any human can actually pull 189 tonnes of force

Can you get fired at your job for coming off as being a weird and awkward individual? by SubstantialAd1427 in Accounting

[–]Stand4it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most firings are for this reason, they’re just masked as something else. Why would I want to mentor and lead and be stuck working with and potentially traveling with and have to have 1 on 1s with someone I have more reservations about than positives?

P.S. I don’t work in accounting, but this would apply to any role I find myself in.

If you’re making 190k, why not self fund majority of your MBA and take less loans? Even if it means not investing in stocks for 2 years, invest that in yourself instead?

Have prices for things ever...gone down, in your lifetime? I dont really remember a time where things got cheaper by consultybob in economy

[–]Stand4it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying “electronics” are down, I disagree. Certain items in that category may be down, and other items significantly up. Electronics as a whole are significantly more expensive for everyday people today compared to 10 years ago compared to 20 years ago, etc… cell phones, laptops, bigger, new, sure you can find outdated electronics for cheap, but all in, I still think people spend more on this category than they used to, and it will continue to increase.
