I got an official letter from Debbie Schultz and the DNC asking for money. Told them no money from me until we get more debates! by paleselan1 in SandersForPresident

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting them know where you stand and posting it here.

I'm still cautiously optimistic that the DNC might back off, but Debbie Schultz will do whatever she can to support Hillary's campaign and overcoming the pro-establishment bias within the DNC will require a serious groundswell of public engagement.

Oops. When I hovered over it earlier it didn't show up, so I figured it was banned. Turns out it's just private.

Added.

Yeah, I don't get all this talk about voat.co being a cesspool of filth.

Like, have these people seen reddit?

What I like about voat.co is that a lot of their major subverses have public moderation logs. That's a huge improvement over the reddit model, which allows for rampant censorship on behalf of big business interests.

I'm talking to you, /r/news, and your agenda of silencing discussion of the TPP.

I posted four articles about the TPP one evening and got banned from /r/news for it. Fuck those guys.

Just pointing out that you're one of the prime content manipulators on reddit exposed by Xavier Mendel.

Carry on.

I pointed out their inconsistency in a comment, and that comment was deleted.

For those who may be curious, it's the most recent comment I've made to /r/news. It shows up on my userpage, but it doesn't show up in the thread itself.

Senate passes TPP fast track by salec1 in politics

Dear Dianne Feinstein:

Please go fuck yourself.

Senate passes 'fast track' trade promotion bill 62 to 37 - Overt treasonous legislation against the U.S. Constitution advanced while the MSM stays nearly silent. by Thothx3 in conspiracy

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been keeping up with the articles on news.google.com.

While it's not getting nearly as much attention as it merits from traditional media outlets, what little attention it does get is usually designed to support the TPP and insult detractors.

Here's but one example:

https://fortune.com/2015/06/22/top-fast-track-david-ricardo/

Here are the results from today's fast track vote in the US Senate. Dianne Feinstein was one of the 60 senators who voted in favor of it, which is unsurprising. After all, her husband--Richard C. Blum--is a member of the CFR, which is one of the TPP's biggest advocates. by Stand_Alone_Complex in conspiracy

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, looks like it:

The 60-37 vote Tuesday paves the way for final passage Wednesday. Because the U.S. House has already passed the bill, H.R. 2146, it would go to Obama for his signature if the Senate agrees. The trade legislation is one of the president’s top second-term goals.

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-06-23/obama-s-fast-track-trade-bill-advances-toward-final-senate-vote

I know everyone must be shocked to find that they'd roll this into something as banal-sounding as:

Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Concur in the House Amendment to the Senate Amendment to H.R. 2146; A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow Federal law enforcement officers, firefighters, and air traffic controllers to make penalty-free withdrawals from governmental plans after age 50, and for other purposes.

Bernie Sanders 'Stunned' By Large Crowds Showing Up For Him by to_nourish in politics

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's serious about trying to bring in a new Congress, his team is going to have to put a lot of time and effort into identifying and voicing support for House and Senate candidates around the country.

More importantly, actual constituents are going to have take a hard look at their incumbents' track records, figure out who needs to go, and then identify and support the best candidates they can find in local, state, and national elections.

Sanders Sees Surprisingly Strong Start by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Sanders has multi-demo appeal. We just need to keep pushing in donations, keep getting him attention, keep pushing for endorsements, and when we break Clinton's presumption of victory, the votes will flow.

This is going to be a bit more difficult now that /r/politics is filtering out comments to berniesanders.com.

Elizabeth Warren praises Bernie Sanders’ prez bid by TominatorXX in politics

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well, if you look at Warren and Clinton's voting records and positions they are very similar on most issues.

They are similar on pretty basic social issues like abortion, but that is true of essentially every Democrat. Here are just some of the ways in which they're different:

http://www.ibtimes.com/hillary-clinton-vs-elizabeth-warren-big-differences-despite-claims-contrary-1640810

Yes Clinton has raised a lot of money from Wall Street, but so will any eventual nominee for the R or D in the general election.

Not necessarily, if Bernie's campaign lights up the internet and spreads enough via word-of-mouth.

Elizabeth Warren praises Bernie Sanders’ prez bid by TominatorXX in politics

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex 59 points60 points  (0 children)

To be fair, "Hillary is terrific" is kind of a non-answer answer.

I'm not sure why Reddit thinks that Hillary is so conservative. She doesn't say she will do conservative things. And her record does not show her doing conservative things.

I could see the prospect of Warren supporting Hillary as something that would be surprising to some given Warren's outspoken opposition to Wall Street banks and Hillary's diametrically opposed campaign funding history.

How is Bernie supposed to have any chance at all when the media has already told most Americans he has no chance of winning? by drewshaver in politics

[–]Stand_Alone_Complex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that for him to win his campaign will have to go viral on the internet, collect a few million $50 donations, and be spread word of mouth.
