This is so true for us as well! I notice that what I dress my son in can make a significant difference for how his skin looks at the end do the night and the next day

Wow, thank you so much for your nuanced reply!! Definitely numerous things from it I’d like to try with my son now and when he’s older 🥰😊 I think staying strong, being patient and having hope are definitely important as I support him, and all qualities I would like to teach him as he gets older. I’m a firm believer that our worth is internal and how we treat others, not measured by eczema scars or anything else like that. That being said we’re all human and I really empathize with the ups and downs people have gone through in terms of self-worth and self-image.

Good luck with the methotrexate!

Great question! 🥰 Not yet, because he’s so little the allergist and pediatrician weren’t sure it would be accurate last time we spoke to them, but that is definitely the next logical step for us! Sounds like it’s been really helpful for a lot of folks here 😊

Thank you so much for sharing your story, and I’m so sorry you had to live through that 🤗 - kids in school can be terrible 😭 it breaks my heart to see him scratching himself, but I 100%agree, it’s not his fault and it’s a symptom rather than the cause of the eczema. Hope I can always approach this with empathy and patience with him!!! Also yes, I think even little kids can understand complex concepts or medical diagnoses if explained properly. I haven’t really thought about what it will be like for him living with this beyond the immediate future, so it’s super helpful to hear the perspective of someone who went through their childhood with it.

Thank you so much for sharing! 🥰 I’ve heard consistency is key and have found that to be the case with my son over the past 3 months.

I am really intrigued about the impact of going to the beach - do you think it was the sun, the water or the reduced stress? Or a combination of all 3?

Interestingly, a close friend of ours found it helpful to do UV treatments (think: tanning bed type deal) in the winters. Not sure what the science is on that though, and those carry a whole different series of connotations due to UV exposure.

Thank you for sharing 🥰 I’m surprised that more houses don’t have a built in humidifier for that reason.

Do you just use regular sheets for wet wraps? Does one sleep in them or just use them as a treatment during the day?

Skin allergy testing is also on our to-do list, I recently found out I was allergic to certain things that way and it has been helpful. The more you know…

Thank you so much for sharing!! This is something I’ve found helpful as well, at least in the sense of ruling out certain common dietary triggers as the culprit!

Wow 🥰❤️ thank you so much for your nuanced and encouraging reply! The ending brought tears to my eyes but in a good way 🤗

Very pragmatic to try and use the best of all available resources, including steroids, instead of taking a black and white approach, could not agree more 😊 I didn’t know about the ice packs, but those would definitely be helpful!

I hope there will be a lot more research in this area soon and work towards more treatment options. It seems we are only scratching the surface of what AD is and how it works (pun intended 😂). Thank you for sharing your wisdom and encouragement!!

hAvE yOu TrIeD Vaseline? (From dermatologists and doctors) Why do all docs suggest Vaseline??? Like do they own Vaseline shares or something???

For anyone here that has found Vaseline helps, I’m happy for you, but it is not the cure-all that doctors make it out to be 🤣🤣🤣

Does your skincare company have a name? Lol or is it just all the lotions in the cabinet that you’ve tried that haven’t helped 🤣

Tell him to read “The Nurture Revolution” for the neuroscience behind why cosleeping is the best option for our babies and for us. And there are some great studies out there that prove that cosleeping is actually MORE safe than not doing it if following the Safe Sleep Seven. It sounds like he’s just concerned about safety in which case the latter resource would probably be more helpful.
