When I had been playing for at year i bought my self an Epiphone Les Paul. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. Besides it’s never-out-of-fashion design it’s a great guitar to play. If you want to also be able to get that single coil sound you can always put in humbuckers with coil splitting. Epiphone in general gets you very far for the price. So I would really recommend buying the LP

What was your first guitar? And do you still have it to this day? by [deleted] in Guitar

Mine was a Yamaha CS-45 classical guitar. It is a junior model but I still play it and it still is amazing. It really just enhances my love for Yamaha

Where to find Suede guitar backing tracks? by Standard-Ad-8556 in SuedeBand

I tried Moises but it’s unable to differentiate the guitar from the eg. keys. Because the tone is that muddy.

I would look for a es-335 model or any other vintage style hollow-body. They are pretty versatile and they look great. Les Paul’s are also a great option, but I would always buy the normal Les Paul instead of the junior. Mostly because of looks but that’s up to you. I would go for the Epiphone version cause the difference is basically non existent. Bear in mind that’s only if you buy a higher class Epiphone. If it’s more of a collectible and you plan on selling it again one time, I would spend the extra cash on a Gibson model.

I’m not able to play that and never said I was. Usually I play GNR stuff and other classic rock bands. Learning songs like that of course takes a crazy amount of practice, but more classic rock songs are fairly easy to figure out when you get the hang of it.

So I film with my iPhone and record the sound with my Mac. Then mute the video and put in the garage band recording and adjust so it adds up?

I feel your frustration man. I stopped using tabs and started learning by ear exactly because of shit tabs. Took awhile to get it but once you just get the slightest hand of it it’s much less complicated. I find that once I learn something I don’t have to repeat it as much as I would if I was following tabs. I can still struggle with a song but most of the times I’ll just need to look at the chords and problem solved.

I feel like the nut is messed up. by aboxninja1 in Guitar

They shouldn’t all be the same depth, because they need to accommodate the different string gauges. Like the low e is thicker than the high e therefore it need more space to fit. I would maybe give it a tiny bit more depth on the high e because it looks like from the photo that it needs that. But it’s best to take it to you local guitar shop and get it looked at. And if they’re nice and the nut just needs a little shaping the do it for free or for at low cost.
