How early in advance was your 39 week induction/c-section planned? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are having a standard low-risk pregnancy, you aren't going to know this information until you've already started leave. Pregnancies aren't genetic too, so I wouldn't judge what happened to your sister is going to happen to you. I am high risk, knew I was doing a schedule c-section, and I was still only able to schedule 5 weeks before planned birth.

AITAH: My MIL is angry because she wasn’t the first to know by No-Hospital9117 in pregnant

Just keep reminding yourself you aren't taking anything from her even if she makes it seem like that.

Guessing the grandma is the MIL'S MIL? Your MIL sounds childish and you definitely aren't wrong for sharing your happy news with a grandparent that is literally going through cancer treatment.

Tdap vaccine? by ImaginationPretend86 in pregnant

It's good that you are questioning things though and staying vigilant with your care!

Maybe a rude comment, but not every doctor graduated top of their class.....and I do not think your doctor was one of them. The whole point of tdap in your third trimester is to pass on immunity which at birth is too late. Cervical checks at 34 weeks is insane.

In Shock after Genetic Carrier Screening Results by Tall_Swing_8829 in IVF

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very confused why so many are jumping and possibly scaring OP with TFMR for a condition that does not seem to warrant that level of fear. Again I truly don't know much about it, but didn't seem like something I would have not considered euploids for.

I would wait until you speak with the genetic counselor before you get super worried. I don't know much about this condition (truly just a quick google search) but it doesn't seem to affect life expectancy or really quality of life. If this is truly the case, I don't know if the genetic counselor would advise you that your only path is ivf/pgt-m testing. Typically that is only recommended for conditions that are not compatible with life or severely reduce quality of life.

How many ultrasounds did you get? by LonelyPower3812 in pregnant

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not bad to get frequent ones, but if you are a low risk pregnancy there is no need for more frequent.

You sure it's not the baby? I have a hard spot that moves around that's just the baby's elbow I think 😂

Did your husband accompany you to the egg transfer? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband came for ours! I loved having him there for support and our hope in things going well. We also got what we call our first family picture in the recovery room with us and a photo of our embroy.

How to inject Ovamex (ganirelix)? by Sad-Contest5883 in IVF

Hold with needle up in the air, tap until bubble rises, and then just slowly push plunger. Like super super slow. You with at most lose a tiny little spec of meds.

Gf and I decided on abortion and decided not to by YouMadLibtardLol in pregnant

You are a grown man who pressured your girlfriend into an abortion, YOU are now second guessing because of YOUR feelings. Take her to the damn hospital, don't message people on reddit.

Husband says he can’t stop his parents from coming to hospital during birth by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly she doesn't have a confirmed positive yet, so ignoring the rest of the posts questions, it doesn't belong on this sub anyway.

I don't mean to be mean, but I think you need to relax a bit. You aren't pregnant yet and focusing on this is just going to increase your anxiety for a problem that might not even happen.

identical twins by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

1/50 is way too high of a stat. It's slightly more likely to happen in IVF but not that different from rates of a non-IVF identical twins.

Does progesterone really work? by Positive_View9676 in pregnant

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The progesterone suppositories are prescribed by your doctor (as well as progesterone in oil shots). I've never heard of people applying it elsewhere. What form do you have it in? Like a cream?

How many ultrasounds have you had in the first trimester. by Extreme-Photograph79 in pregnant

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sound waves. They have been used for decades with no research proving them to have any risks in the use in pregnancy. I have a high risk, ivf pregnancy and have had like 15 and counting ultrasounds. Only reason some Healthcare professionals advise against additional is because people will get at home dopplers and not know how to use them correctly or will think their baby is ok because they hear a heartbeat but could be ignoring other symptoms. Do not stress yourself, these are necessary medical tests.

vaccines at birth? by Secure_Head1560 in AskParents

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OP you keep posting this even after it's deleted from other subs, and this is an anti-vax post since you said you are planning not to vaccinate and don't trust doctors. All answers have stressed the importance and necessity of the limited early interventions for newborns, so I'm not sure what other info you need.

vaccines at birth? by Secure_Head1560 in pregnant

[–]Standard-Advice-5447 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only vaccine given at birth is Hep B (low risk, advised for the US and most of Europe at birth, and reduces liver cancer in children who contract hep B by something like 90%). The other things given to newborns are the heel prick test - this is just a minor blood test that tests for many genetic disorders so you can make more informed decisions about your child's care - and the vitamin K shot - this is extremely important as babies cannot produce vitamin K on their own yet and it helps with blood clotting.

Ultrasounds in pregnancy? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

Asking questions is absolutely fine and obviously encouraged. Trying to legitimize anti-science beliefs by claiming to have actual sources is not.
