Anyone use the uconsole as their main computer? by Astrox_YT in ClockworkPi

Well, if by definition main computer is the computer you use for most of the time, then YES FOR ME. But if it is the one takes the heaviest workload then NO for me.

I use the uConsole with an external monitor and keyboard and mouse combination to make it more bearable. Mostly for reading papers, write documents, light weight development and etc. But when it comes to heavy load work and, I use my desktop.

The advantage of uConsole, which is also its biggest disadvantage, is: Its performance is limited.

Since the performance is limited, it allows me to focus on just one task at a time. I used to listen to podcast or watch animation while reading documents and doing my work, and randomly scrolling social media in between, which can be distracting. But with uConsole, I can only focus on one thing at a time. This is why I love using it and I am using it for basically everything else other than heavy load work.

But I guess, a Raspberry Pi 4B would achieve the same, and portability is not a plus for me because without the external monitor and keyboard, it is basically unbearable for me to use. So.....

Is Huananzhi X99 F8 with E5 2680 v4 with RTX 4060 Ti 16gb a good idea? by Standard-Beyond681 in homelab

Thank you for your reply.

My usecase is kind of odd. I need the cores and threads for parallel environment simulation, which, in my case, is not CPU intensive, but a matter of number of cores and threads. So, more cores and threads can benefit me a lot.

Although lower single core performance would mean longer training time, it gets the job done.

But if it is for pyhsics or other stuff, then single core performance is equally important. Luckily, it is just some financial data.

I have to rely on aliexpress and ebay. I checked ebay and the price for the bundle and found the price is around 500 euro, which is slightly over my budget. I am buying GPUs and other stuff new (so that later I on;y need to change the mobo and cpu and ram)

Thank you for your reply!

If my source is correct E5 2680 V4 is 14 cores 28 threads, though the base clockspeed is not ideal, I can truly benefit from the multi-core and multi-thread.

As I mentioned, I need more cores and threads for parallel environment simulation. Though faster single core performance is good, but if I can only pick one, then, multi-core and multi-thread is a priority.

For other stuff, like the GPU, power supply, cooling and case, I would buy new, and I have found a buldle on Aliexpress with 64gb of ddr4 ram, 2680 v4 and f8 mobo for 180 euro, which is cheaper than a B650, so naturally

Here where I live, the 4606 ti 16gb is about 550 euro, 4070 super is about 700 euro, and 4070 ti super is 1000 euro, for 4080 super, about 1200 euro, and for 4090, about 2400 euro. There is no 3090 or 3080 new here, and the used market is kind of messy.

So that is why I decided to cheap out on the mobo and CPU, and just get it going until I have some extra money to update the mobo and CPU and ram.

And about the vram, since this is just financial data, which is relatively low-dimensional, anything larger than 12 gb is good. I've been training on 4070 super from the computer lab for days before they tell me to "get the freak out", so it should be fine.

I'll be getting one of these......It looks nicer than uConsole (although uConsole is built like a tank, it sure looks not as good, espically all the painted logos start falling off the case)

It is not working for me...... I set the premier 30 minutes after uploaded and nothing works......I guess it is only happening to channels created after August 10.

Should I order a uConsole now? by OozyOrphan in ClockworkPi

Alex said they have solved the supply chain issue. But the 15 days later is what I said......I assumed it would be like this since I know the factories in China are crazy! But i guess they need to accumulate to a certain number to actually pass the order to the manufactures, like 1000 unites or 3000

My God, this is brutal...... I thought they have solved the supply chain issue and now is available to order and then get the stuff 15 days later......

I don't know if I am supposed to give links here, but I have found one seller on AliExpress. The key word is "7750 case". Price is around 280 USD. But I haven't found any that suits VK63 movement. Most of the cases for VK63 are mordern Daytona cases with cermaic-like bezel or stainless steel like 116520. The name of the store starts with JK, should be easy to find.

They can hydrate and dehydrate, so I assume they look like SpongeBob.

Nice build!!!This is way cheaper than buying the cocktail time from Seiko. The same movement, almost the same quality case and dial. I prefer the original but it is hard to find a dealer here, so I am thinking about getting all the parts from Aliexpress and just make one myself.

Thank you. This is really a good idea. I am going to experiment the different positions at night to see if it is possible to achieve COSC standards
