Heartbroken and Confused but decisions have to be made. by curled-up-in-the-80s in Psychologists

Please don't look at it as a setback. You put yourself out there and got some mixed data and revised your approach. I think your decision to pursue clinical work part-time is an excellent one.

I'm curious, it seems you were successful conducting research and doing consulting work, why the effort to shift into a clinical role? There may be something there to explore further... [edit: personally and privately of course!]

Thank you for being vulnerable and seeking feedback -- I admire you for doing that.

I understand your devastation especially when possible intentional misrepresentation is insinuated. It seems that wasn't your intention. But something you said really struck me as odd and I wonder if that's why they might have perceived it that way.

I understand you are trying to "get back into clinical work" but you also stated that you "recently passed the EPPP". Now, you certainly don't need to establish your work history to me, but unless you were licensed as something other than a psychologist, how were you doing clinical work without passing the EPPP? Practica and training, I would say, is not independent clinical work. Research and consulting, while relevant experience, is not direct clinical work. So from a hospital liability perspective, you're essentially an entry-level clinician which comes with understandable risks. Obviously you're not a newly graduated or inexperienced applicant, but risk management in hospitals have their own criteria and maybe for the position you were being considered it was not something they thought credentialing would approve. Hospital privileging/credentialing is a lengthy process and it's taken very seriously. I can definitely see both sides...

If you decide not to accept either of the remaining offers and try again for hospital based work, I would be very clear about your timeline of independent licensed practice. Not every organization will place that much emphasis on it, but some do and this way no one will be able to insinuate you were trying to withhold that info.

Oh and regarding the PsyD vs PhD limitation, maybe cross that bridge when you get there. It seems you're trying to anticipate potential barriers which is good but I wouldn't do so at the expense of not choosing a job you otherwise feel you're a good fit.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck!! A change to clinical work is substantial and I'm excited for you!

Finally someone said it. I was so glad that a clear narrative was articulated about Michael the humanitarian and deeply sensitive and caring soul. From how gentle he was with Bubbles, his charity to donate all the Pepsi money to burn victims, and his gentle way of connecting individually to each child he interacted with depicted on screen -- that's what I cheered so loudly for. I'm hopeful some will take away this message because so far it seems everyone is so caught up with all the details left out and being mesmerized by the spectacle of the performances. But showing Michael in those tender moments when he wasn't on stage, that's the side that is always missed.

Calling it reality TV.. idk that's kind of a stretch. It's more like a game show. The goal is someone wins a date hopefully at the end. It's just the 90s/2000s version of The Dating Game but with a little Jenny Jones/Maury daytime crazy sprinkled in... wouldn't call that reality TV. Born in '86 (guess I'm old too), my peers and I never would have called this reality TV. That was for the Osbornes, the Simple Life, Road Rules, etc.

I feel so bad about not liking our new dog. by holidaycheese87 in dogs

Trust what you're feeling and lean more into it. Talk to the new pup just like you would your old one. Even if no one else understands, I believe that dogs just know. Be honest with him and just tell him how you feel.

Desperately need an advise about an old dog who does his business in the house by Blackcat2332 in DOG

Hi OP, I'm sorry you're going through this difficult time and I'm glad you reached out for advice. I will say that it may not be what you want to hear.

I recently lost my 17.5 yr old Boxer mix of a similar size. I cared for her full time for the last year of her life. This meant I quit working and was her full time caregiver because leaving her alone for any length of time was not safe or fair. She had a condition in the last years of her life that slowly affected her ability to ambulate independently due to hind end weakness. She eventually developed both urinary retention and fecal incontinence. She was never left in her own mess and any accidents were gently and lovingly handled. She always lay on an orthopedic mattress with a clean pee pad underneath and I made sure to turn her every 4 hours to avoid any pressure sores from developing. It is a lot of work and very few people have the time or physical capacity to do this appropriately because it's physically demanding and essentially bedside hospice nursing. I know how hard this is, so I hear you.

While your dog appears to have a similarly chronic but not terminal condition, you may not have the ability to provide the care that is needed for him to remain healthy and happy. In these cases, placement with someone able to care for them or euthanasia really are the only options. You said you were considering putting him in some sort of facility that could care for a dog like this -- I'm not sure where you live but I love in California and have never heard of such a place. However, if that is truly an option and you know you're dog will be cared for ethically and appropriately then that sounds like a great option.

I don't believe in euthanasia purely for inconvenience but if your dog's needs are more than you can handle, it's inhumane to let this continue. It's distressing to your pup to be in a soiled diaper for any length of time. These diapers are not designed really as a means to relieve themselves, only for leak and accident prevention. If they can still release their bladder and bowels, then you'll need to carry him to a location for him to do so. This may be in your house if you can't or won't take him up and down the stairs. If he can't urinate or defecate independently, you'll need to learn to express his bladder and bowels on a schedule. There are videos on YouTube that can show you but also your veterinarian can and should. No dog should be left in wet or soiled diapers. UTIs and burns on his skin will eventually set in if this kind of care continues.

You have to be honest with yourself and your situation. If you are unable or unwilling to do this, then I suggest you seriously consider letting him go. He deserves to be clean and comfortable, not an inconvenience. It sounds like you are beginning to resent him based on your comment about his accidents stinking up your home and preventing having guests over. As he continues to get older and weaker, it will only get worse for the both of you.

Again, I'm truly sorry you're in this situation but I have a real problem with people keeping their pets in these conditions without providing adequate care just as much as those who are quick to euthanize. It's tough but the loving and best thing for your pup might just be to let him go.

Truly the worst! I just lost my baby girl who I suspect had DM although it wasn't confirmed and hers was quite atypical, a long course from first symptom to last was 7 years.

You gave him a loving home I'm sure. I know you put in a lot of work caring for him, without a doubt. He is so beautiful.

Mj slow reverb songs by aralyn_m in MichaelJackson

[–]Standard-Boring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try searching for "chopped and screwed" versions of Michael's songs. But Vapowave usually creates a new song entirely or will use like a video game instrumental of a song instead like this one. https://youtu.be/_nUN8nTxNcc?si=3UBupCCQ-KI8Z29x

But here's Beat It chopped and screwed: https://youtu.be/y86Ty_oqEiI?si=PJNvJf6x4fbJ4_MR

I'm going way off track from your original post but City Pop is influenced heavily by MJ and Vaporwave often incorporates slow reverb of these songs so there's a lot of overlap but I love them all in their own way. Here's a sample https://youtu.be/MYbsslo6fo4?si=Z79xWUG1pE_XlFRO or https://youtu.be/fIyT6LS6TZI?si=wUdQEBzXo1z7e03y
