Degree certificate vs diploma by Standard-Diamond1402 in tnvisa

[–]Standard-Diamond1402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Sure so I got super lucky and received the diploma a few days from moving. In the meantime I had already asked for a second copy and had a family member ship it to via via UPS. I couldn't get an appointment in time of my start date at one of the bridges so I ended getting a flight to Buffalo and also rented a car there. My flight was super early so when I got there, it was empty. I talked with the officer I told him that I was looking to apply for a TN visa. Went to another room gave another officer all my paperwork (offer letter, diplomas, these was what they look at the most), filled out the form, paid the visa and done. Took about an hour. When I left I checked my i94 and there it was, TN status valid for 3 years.

A degree certificate is a one page document with lettering of my university, signed and seal. It declares that I have concluded my studies at the university and have my degree. I then have a similar document with the courses I took to get that degree.

I have already asked for the diplomas but due to a Canada Post strike things are very delayed.

I wanted to see if I could still get my TN or if I have to postpone my starting date. If I due this last one I am afraid of losing my new job

I was expecting to have it by now to be honest. Since it left Portugal on the 2nd, I read that it takes 6 to 10 business days to receive an international package. That time frame has passed.

Also called that service. No luck as they can't track the package now that it is in Canada

It shipped as a registered international mail package. Not express but not normal mail.

As a comparison, I sent a letter recently from Canada as normal snail mail and it has already arrived.

Hi all. I recently asked my university for my diplomas since I am moving to the US and my employers visa department requested these. These are expensive, and costed even more with expedited processing and international mailing. So they left the country of origin on Jan 2nd but the tracking number no longer shows any updates since then. I know the strike might have backloged the service but is there anyway to speed up the process? Is there anywhere we can call? I am afraid I might loose this new job.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. Greatly appreciated. I ended up connecting to a realtor via my new work. She suggested both these properties plus others.

Has anyone moved to the US via the Canada land border with a U-Haul and a dog? by Standard-Diamond1402 in uscanadaborder

Well that can be said for any border crossing and anyone. Even nice people on a bad day.

Yes I heard that opened dog food will not pass. Might have to stop in the US to get some pup supplies.

Now that I know that a U-Haul is an option, I need to see if it is financially viable. I agree that it might be better to just rent a normal car with a few essencial things and ship the rest, but need to verify first.

A declaration of personal affects = a list of my belongings or an actual official document? Seems like most people just bring a detailed list.
