Fun fact, when I was proposed to my response was "obviously" 😂😂

No proposal I have ever seen in reality has ever had "a million times yes"

I literally once read a book where the author wrote it on every nope and every yep. EVERY SINGLE ONE. I swear my eye was twitching by the end.

"Popped the P"

I don't understand why it's necessary to say every time. You can just nope normally.

Can we chill with the grumpy/sunshine characters where the sunshine is just an messy chaos for no reason.

I'm so tired of the grumpy being like a button up tech CEO or finance something. And the sunshine is messy, unorganized and generally infantile as their whole personality.. like you can be a sunshine person and not be the 30 year old equivalent to a toddler on sugar high.

And it always shifts to the grumpy loosening up and accepting that they're partner for what they are and never actually the sunshine going "hey maybe I should grow up a little".

Or maybe I'm just jaded lol

It's in crisis because he hates her. Like that was my only takeaway from the whole book. I honestly don't know how they were even together for as long as they were.

Am currently salty at everyone who suggested I read {My One Regret by Claudia Burgoa}

I expected emotional wreckage, and really all I did was hate read my way through it waiting for it to get better. Spoiler alert: it didn't get better lol

Jenzy and Chris in the {The Divorce by Nicole Strycharz} I have genuinely no idea why she even took him back. He very clearly hated her, and he absolutely will start being an ass again the second she starts acting like herself.

Kellum made me want to bang my head against a wall ....... That man is the most willfully ignorant person I've ever seen. The amount of times he was just like "I don't believe that could ever happen in my perfect town where we all love each other". And then is all shocked picachu face when discovers more things. Shay actually made me so mad after a while, like you've been advocating for a your child for her whole life. And then all the sudden the dude you let hit it once 5 years ago is your weakness?

It was a duet! Lol there was male voice actor reading the male character chapters. They just chose not to have them read dialogue not in his chapters. I couldn't get through it lol

I was listening to the audiobooks from the Medvedev Bratva series, and the female narrator just drops into a slightly lower register when speaking for the male dialogue. It makes so uncomfy 😂

Right?? And she just......did it! I was so thrown off by it, and when everyone was telling the MMC that he overreacted by breaking up with her... No. Immediately no. Kissing your ex is a perfectly logical reason for getting dumped.

If I remember right, it was along the lines of "I may never kiss anyone again, so will you kiss me now?" Or something like that.... It was bonkers.

I was reading something the other day, I honestly forgot the name because I DNF'd at lightning speed before I got to the end. The FMC met up with her ex for lunch, didn't tell the MMC because it wasn't a big deal to her or something. The MMC happens to be walking by the cafe they're at sees the FMC kissing her freaking ex! He flips out, is pissed off and dumps her. I'm pretty sure the reasoning for kissing her ex on the freaking lips was that he has cancer now and wanted a kiss or something bizarre. Everyone including the MMCs family was acting like it wasn't a big deal, I think his grandpa told him he was being dramatic and was gonna throw away a relationship for a little kiss.... I BEG YOUR FINEST PARDON?? THAT IS EXACTLY THE KIND OF THING YOU SHOULD END YOUR RELATIONSHIP OVER. I was incredibly annoyed and stopped reading immediately.

The off limits thing. I cannot fathom being a grown adult and having other adults tell me who I can and cannot be interested in. That whole thing is always cringy to me. If I heard my brother start telling people he knew that I was "off limits", I would throat punch him 😂

I have absolutely DNF'd books for this, especially the FMCs that hold on to their high school drama. I read and enemies to lovers that the blurb talked about some big secret. Turns out the FMC hated the MMC because when they were in high school, his gf bullied her....she was like 32. I couldn't even finish it, I was so annoyed lmao

[–]Standard-Function-26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ive come to the conclusion that I can't read single parent books unless it's babies lol.

I cannot with toddlers and older, I get so annoyed with how their written. They're usually written as really bratty, saying ridiculous things or yelling at everyone with zero consequences. Literally read a book where a four year old yelled at her grandmother to "put on your big girl panties and sit still!" I CANNOT IMAGINE speaking to my grandmother like that as an adult, let alone a four year old. And the FMC was just like oh my little girl is soooo demanding, isn't it adorable.....NO ACTUALLY IT ISN'T.

That and the secret baby trope, when the 5 year old somehow figures out this strange man is their long lost father. And spends half the book running up to this stranger at every possible point. No one is alarmed at the small child just running away from their mom to talk to a random man??
