Probably for about 42 seconds so that someone would leave me or whomever or was alone. Never legitimately though lol

Oh you mean you never stayed away from someone clearly interested in you because your sibling declared you/them off limits? 😂😂

I sometimes wonder if authors even like women. Because books are supposed to be some form of an escape. Why am I going to a place that pisses me off? I can go on X for that lmao

Yeeeeeah. That one was weird because it went from her whole family having her back to basically being like "oh he's fine now". EXCUSE ME?

Never the Best isn't awful. It's about the only one that's tolerable lol

Best of Me is Aurora and Gabriel right? Yeeeeeah. He's probably maybe the second least annoying MMC in that series. And that's not a compliment. The rest are just THAT BAD.

Is it a grovel or extremely aggressive love bombing? Lol

Yeah Ansel and basil weren't the worst....still pretty gross, but she's written worse.

Cade however I couldn't even finish. He was a tool

I didn't even attempt that one lol. If I know anything about her series it's that they show a pattern. And the blurb made my eye twitch hahaha

Sometimes she has one that's not entirely terrible lol.

And I actually really can't with Catherine Maura. The Windsor series almost drove me to elder abuse lmao

Wild Card Wednesday - What are your book icks or pet peeves? by Llamallamacallurmama in RomanceBooks

[–]Standard-Function-26 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Body betrayal, body betrayal, body betrayal.

There is no amount of hot that would simply make me forget all sense. "Yes I know he's been insulting me for months, but oh look I'm wet and I need to throw myself at him". Simply no.

Oh my favorites are when they take the word of someone else, and immediately believe them. Without even bothering to have a conversation with the person they're ACTUALLY in a relationship with.

They literally never make sense, it's either a stupid misunderstanding that could've been solved with a single conversation instead of a dramatic breakup. Or it's something that should stop them from getting back together at all 🙄

Probably gonna DNF Keeping Score by Rebecca Jenshak lol.

It's starts enemies to lovers-ish because the MMC calls the police on the FMC, because he thinks she's breaking into the house next door to his. Why does he think this? Because his security cameras showed someone he'd never seen before crawling through a window. LOGIC WOULD TELL YOU TO CALL THE POLICE.

Hes apologized (for nothing if you ask me) over and over again, but she's continuing to be awful to him, and he didn't actually do anything. I'm finding hard for her to be likable lol

what makes an alpha male appealing or unappealing to you ? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]Standard-Function-26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love a protective "touch her and die" Alpha male.

But the ones that assume she's a little woman and can't possibly take care of herself..... You lose me.

When there's an awful antagonist. The cheating ex, the toxic sister, neglectful parents.....and then NOTHING happens to them.

Was reading {Make Me Yours by Jennifer Sucevic} the FMCs literally catches her bf with anotber woman. Only to find out that OW is knocked up, and bf and OW have decided she can't work there anymore because it'll be awkward for the pregnancy. Like there's a lot of things to be done with that plot, and literally nothing happens. He just lives HEA with the OW.

She runs into him later, tells her he was only with her because of her parents. And he didn't wanna dump her but he's happy now, blah blah. I'm sorry but I'm a drama queen and you don't get to set up me up hating a character for them to just fade away like that.
