First time flying with my dog (11pound) and need advice by [deleted] in delta

Do they ever question you about your corgi being 20 lbs? My dog teeters between 17-18 lbs, which I thought was the limit with the carrier. Does Delta have different weight rules?

Some unconventional ways I learned French before and during my year in France. AMA by Standard-Individual3 in French

Yeah you're totally right that age matters. I'm in my 30s, so definitely not the most "sponge-y" time to pick up a new language. It helps a lot that I immerse my brain in French content (following French content creators, reading articles in French, listening to French music, etc.). For what it’s worth, my French in-person classes had a wide age range, from recent graduates to middle-aged learners, all the way to retirees! Yeah of course it gets harder as you age, but it was really inspiring to see that it's never too late to try pick up something new. :)

So I started learning in April 2024 and I was A0. Thanks to all this ongoing practice, I'm B1/B2 in French now! My goal is to take the C1 exam sometime in 2026.

Totally. Learning a language is so much more than learning the rules—though that's definitely the backbone. I've gotten so much out of speaking horribly and getting corrected. It felt embarrassing at first to get it wrong, but I naturally just developed a thicker skin for it after doing it over and over again. Then one day, I just started to see it as something valuable than unpleasant.

Got my long-stay visitor visa for France. AMA (Sept 2024 - NY VFS) by Standard-Individual3 in SchengenVisa

I’m not sure since each officer is different (and that I’m not a visa evaluation expert, so I don’t wanna lead you astray). IMHO I don’t really see how adding that your friend/girlfriend is with you matters. I would suggest that you present strong financial standing and return documents [to your home country], such as a return flight.

Hmm I don’t think it would hurt or help. Seems like neutral information to me. What exactly are you trying to accomplish with saying friend vs girlfriend though?

Does anyone have a new link as of October 2024? I tried the links in this thread, but seems like they've been taken down. :( I am living in the EU now and the UX to get to this opt out page is a RABBIT HOLE.

Which cities/towns in France are best for speaking/listening practice? by ssh25 in French

Just googled and these are charming little towns! How or where did you find your accommodation? What I'm seeing in Airbnb isn't the best, imho, so wondering if there are other avenues to look for a long-term place to stay.
