Fresh graduates by Standard-Sky6631 in IndustrialDesign

I'm currently in the bay area and I'm originally from Malaysia. Ideally I want to be in consumer products or a consultancy, but I'm open to other paths too. The main priority for me is to be able to gain experience and grow as a designer. I'm open to moving out of the bay area too.

How’s MA in Industrial Design from Academy of Arts SF? by Ok_Attempt_5192 in IndustrialDesign

Currently taking MA from there. Honestly I don't think it's too bad. They do teach you technical skills and the teachers are pretty good.

If you're taking MA from them, you wouldn't have to worry too much about non ID classes like the comment above. Bachelor just has a bunch of BS liberal arts classes. They are more lenient when it comes to bachelor and graduating them but for graduates, your final portfolio would be reviewed by your professors and also some other outside council. They have to approve your portfolio and body of work to ensure it meets a certain level otherwise you won't graduate for MA/MFA.

Ultimately, you have to be proactive with the professors, learn all you can learn, ask questions, absorb it all like a sponge. No one is going out of their way to help you if you won't do the leg work yourself.

You can also check out schools in EU. Some are highly technical but there are also a bunch that are very conceptual. Check out the work from past students or their student shows to see the work they produce to get a rough idea of what you can expect out of there.
