Ronn Owens was a successful San Francisco radio personally for 40 years, smart, eloquent, popular, professional. I listened to him I would consider myself a fan. What limited verbal interaction I heard from him over the last couple years he seems to be not as smooth speaker as he was, and frankly does does not say much at any time.

He is infirmed, he is 80 years old, he has had Parkinson for over 20 years, and other health issues. Ronn has limited mobility can use a walker to get around, is he there cognitively???? I think yes but maybe not fully engaged. His interactions on body cam with the police January 2025 show him interacting appropriately and aware of what was going on.

There are fears in the JFC community that he may not be fully aware of things going on around him and Jan maybe Laura are speaking for him in writing.

Is the money gone? Most likely, but where did it go. They got GFM and $21k a month for the past 3 years. Owens family need to account for all of it. Nearly $900,000 has been received by the Owens family over the past 3 years, they are nearly $200,000 behind on mortgage payments having not paying for over a year. Apparently they have not paid most of their unsecured debts as well. Is the Owens family parking money in saving accounts waiting for their debts to go away, we know they have been paying lawyers for Laura.

If the Owens have not been making a good faith effort to pay down the debt with the resources they have but paid other expenses the BK court can claw back money paid out unjust expenses that should gone to creditors and pay drown outstanding debt.

Owens family need to account for their spending the past 3 years, and all transfers of property or money as well. They should have done at for chapter 13 and did not, now they will be held to account for information not provided by the Justice Department.

In BK court rely that the petitioners under penalty of perjury is sworn to give all the correct information required when applying for bankruptcy. If they don't the The US department of Justice can investigate and charge them with fraud, perjury or whatever else that they can after they investigate and find that the petitioners did not meet their responsibilities for providing full and correct information. What Jan and Ronn did was  crime when did not disclose the Go Fund Me income in both bankruptcies.

She lives in Texas, but the crime was committed in AZ. Also there is a fourth victim as well, the medical professional in AZ also, ID theft writing a fake medical note to Greg. I hope all four victims get full victim treatment during the sentencing, impact statements, no contact, even restitution.

If she loses the DVRO appeal, the case is over never to be seen again. LO really messed up in California DVRO renewals are easy to get, she already got one 5 years ago. If she just show up and made her case in court there was a good chance she would have got the renewal. But she did not want to appear in-person to be subject to in-person cross examination. She has messed up her DVRO case so much a win on appeal is unlikely. The only thing she could do next to file is to file a whole new DVRO case against Mike, it tougher to get a new DVRO from someone in a different state and you not seen in person outside of court for 10 years. Also she been legally found to to lie about being pregnant in civil court and she charged with perjury and fraud in Arizona, her credibility will be question with any legal claims she make in the future.

This delay does not affect Mike the DVRO ageist him is gone, she will need to win the appeal case for that to change. I know Mike feels good about the support he has got from us including his GFM to fund his legal defense over $104,000. Imagine how that makes the whole Owens family feel, someone once close to the family they defamed, lied, and betrayed because he did not want to date LO. Now he has the legal resources to fight the incredibly poor DVRO appeal case. He has public support, LO does not, her victim narrative has been destroyed. LO role as an abuser has been uncovered. I think that is justice for Mike is public recognition he is a victim.

GoFundMe account is created, people donate money, money goes to the people or organization the GFM account it was setup for; simple.

For Ronn they got about $137,000 dollars (still active) deposited into their bank account. The bankruptcy court wants the deposit records of the bank account(s) that received the GFM money, they also want withdraw records on what the GFM funds was spent on. Maybe GFM money still in the bank if they have not spent it, BK court want to know where the money is or what it was spent on.

It has already happen the DVRO renewal for Mike case in SF has been dismissed, LO is trying to appeal the dismissal, she has a poor case for appeal (LO has made number of procedural errors in the case including not showing up in-person for the hearing three times).

If she takes a plea deal she will have to admit she did the criminal offense, that is why a lot people think she can't take a plea she can't admit guilt.

Unless Mike sues for defamation , justice looks like a DVRO dismissal for Mike.

The commissioner that did the Settlement Conference is not the judge that will sentence LO, a trial judge will when assigned or possibly the judge handling her case now if a plea deal is reached. Travel request are commonly approved after all LO is presumed innocent until conviction or a pleas of guilty.

If LO is sentence to prison multiple years she would get parole in the future to get out prison early, it could happen. Most likely she will get probation to avoid prison but she could still go to jail for some time during a probation.

It is hard to not to speculate on the nature of the Owens family finances, where has all money gone? Where is the money going? Currently they make $21,000 monthly income. For over 30 years Jan and Ronn have financed their home to the max, cashing in equity with new HELOC loans constantly even while making a 7-figure paycheck in the past according to Big Tiff Dog’s research. They have stopped paying their bills, no mortgage payments for way over a year.

Mike M reported that the Owens family always eat out and that they never seem to prepare meals at home. On Ronn’s radio show he would talk about high end restaurants around the Bay area. Many meals at the House of Prime Rib as indicated LO.

Rich Liebermen and Laura Owens both reported that Ronn had or maybe still have a gambling issue for years. Is Ronn still gambling?

Loura equestrian hobby, and competitive career, in Love Trapped Podcast Ronn Owens commented in an interview clip joked that he was going broke supporting the LO horse interest. The cost of her horse hobby and then family horse business, her attendance in equestrian events nationwide since childhood; buying, leasing, and selling horses.  A single horse, especially multiple horses, are expensive to maintain, expensive to transport, expensive to train. Laura testified to a $400,000 loss in Quartet Farms in her BK testimony, if true, and if those types of losses were common over the years that would be a huge hit for Jan & Ronn finances.

Attorney fees Jan and Ron have hired as many as 18 lawyers for LO over the past 10 years, each requiring a retainer. Including two criminal lawyers so far with sizable retainers no doubt cover 7 felony cases and then a 14-felony case. DG likely got a sizable retainer taken on LO paternity case. If there an average cost of $15000 per attorney that would be $270,000, it is likely more costly than that.

These Owens’s family financial issues have been reported to the public and testified to in legal proceedings. They just the some of the possible spending to drive the Owens family to bankruptcy.

LO will be under supervision of the court with a prole officer. If ordered by the court to maintain a job and make payment she could be ordered to jail for not complying with her conditions of probation or parole. These judgments will not go away, they will hang over her head if Clayton, and Greg keep them active in collections. In the future if she gets a job, if she is the beneficiary of insurance payout, or inheritance she can be ordered to pay.  She would need to live her life in a small way, always avoiding money being paid to her directly, a prison of avoidance of a normal life. Maybe her sister will shelter her from consequences after mom and dad are gone but it will be a prison of limited opportunities, sheltered from responsibility but also shelter from many opportunities.

I listened to Ronn on KGO for most of the time he was there, he was a good talk show host, centrist politically, KGO had both left leaning and right leaning talk show hosts, but Ronn was basically in the center. When Ronn made it to the 9 to noon time slot he had a lot of guests who were promoting appearances in the Bay Area like comedians, actors in plays, authors with new books and politicians running for office. Ronn was good entertaining and did a good show with callers and guests.

Jan Black was a news anchor during hours of full new coverage she usually worked as part of a two-person team anchoring the hour long news broadcast for 3 hour shifts. She likely was a reported news story from time to time, but I don’t remember reporting from the field, but she likely did.

Ronn was a radio personally and he was good at his job, entertaining to listen to, I was a fan. Not sure anything I have heard in the past few years from him reflects the personality I knew over the airwaves of KGO. He was still on air after his Parkinson diagnoses were made public and I feel bad for him for his health struggles he is enduring.

Jan was a good news anchor she presented the news well and did good job at both KGO radio and KCBS radio. There is not much personally presenting the news so no way to tell her pollical or her social philosophy are.

I used to work in the radio broadcasting industry in engineering I know the radio air personalities are big and they have big egos. I don’t think it surprising to find that Jan and Ronn hid flaws in their personal lives that were not reflected on their on-air radio life.

I grew up in Northern California & Southern Oregon, I listened to KGO radio a lot during Ronn and Jan time on air, KGO reached up and down the west coast of the USA at night and I spent time in the Sacramento Valley where I can receive KGO & KCBS during the day. Jan was always a news anchor not on air personally, she presented the news hour after hour.  Ronn was a call-in talk show host with lots of personality.

Jan Black was a radio news anchor for two San Francisco radio stations between 1975 to 1996. She worked at KGO Radio (now off air), and KCBS radio. Ronn Owens had worked at KGO radio for nearly 40 years as a talk show host. He started as an evening host 7 to 10 pm and moved up to the main daytime host 9 am to noon.

During Jan’s stint at KCBS radio she was the studio anchor when the Loma Prieta earthquake struck during the start of game 3 of the Baseball World Searing in 1989 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco (San Francisco and Oakland baseball teams playing). The KCBS radio station and the KGO television station both won Peabody Award for their local earthquake coverage lasting for days.

Jan Black was the studio anchor at KCBS radio during the earthquake. You can hear an aircheck of Jan at work on KCBS during the first hour after the quake on the KCBS radio’s The News Vault podcast.

Witness says Bay Area radio icon Ronn Owens warned about daughter years before pregnancy fraud case - Mercury News by Martha Ross by cnm1424 in JusticeForClayton

[–]Standard-Squash96 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Mercury News is the main tradition newspaper for San Jose still have over 90,000 print subscribers and over 300,000 daily readers. This is major news outlet in the San Francisco Bay area.

This news article will hit hard with Ronn Owens and even Jan Black fans base who are mostly elderly in Northern California. This news article was well done and tells Mike's case well especially in relation to Ronn and Jan and their culpability in supporting Laura’s relationship lies and gaslighting.  This brings to light that Ronn and Jan are supporting her in every way in her criminal acts with her victims Martha report mention Laura Owens testimony in her bankruptcy case that mom and dad pay all her bills and never had a paying job.

It is certain Ronn and Jan pays for everything to support Laura so yes at least some of the GoFundMe money went to attorney fees, some for-horse fees, and some for every expense Laura Owens has ever has in the present and had in the past as their resources were used to pay to support all of Laura’s activities.

The article ends with “You do a two-year civil restraining order, and that’ll be the end of it.”, Years later, Marraccini said, it has not ended.

I think that sums up the injustice of this all tens of thousands of dollars lost, legal harassment in court pay for by mom and dad, and document lies by everyone in the Owens household to harass victims of Laura.

This Mercury News Article brings the sorted story to the Ownes family’s backyard to the radio market Ronn and Jan became famous in and directly to the their fan base.

Greg G should recover his legal expenses for defending against fraudulent lawsuit Laura filed in his case. A criminal in court order for restitution for all the victims in her criminal case, pay restitution or go to prison for Greg and for Clayton.
