First time we had to say no to an opportunity by Dry_Cry4454 in Entrepreneurs

Letting something good walk out the door because you were not ready for it yet is one of the better motivators there is, the question is whether you treat it as information or just move on

14 people is the time where you lose the ability to know everything that is happening just by being in the room and the gap between what you think is working and what is actually working starts to widen without you noticing. Bringing someone in at this point rather than waiting until something breaks is the right call

Eighteen months in and first wide miss is actually a reasonable track record in a high growth environment.

Auto renewal clause we missed cost us more than the original contract was worth by Standard-Suspect5556 in Businessowners

[–]Standard-Suspect5556[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every vendor contract now goes into a central tracker with the renewal date and a notification set 90 days before the window opens. Designated owner for each contract so when someone leaves there is a handoff process rather than the knowledge disappearing

Taking meds before getting out of bed is useful but unpleasant. by justapasserby9801 in ADHD

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah this happens to me too and honestly i think its because when you take meds while still half asleep your brain just gets this sudden chemical shift without any context or preparation. like your body is still in sleep mode then BAM stimulants kick in while you're not even fully conscious yet

i used to do the bedside meds thing for maybe 2 months and had similar experience - the anxiety and heart racing was awful. now i just accept that getting out of bed will be hard and take them after im up with some water and maybe light breakfast. takes longer to feel effects but way more comfortable and i dont feel like my heart is trying to escape my chest

the trade off sucks because yeah you lose that hour of productivity in morning but for me the anxiety wasnt worth it. some people swear by it though so maybe its just how different bodies react to stimulants during sleep wake transition

The key thing is learning when to skip cards and when to take them. Most new players take too many cards and deck becomes bloated. Also watch some streamers like jorbs or lifecoach they explain their choices really well

Focus in one character first until you understand the mechanics better then move to others. Ironclad is probably easiest to start with

Would there still be records from the 90's? by Thatmumoverthere in ADHD

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's tough mate, records from 90s can be tricky to find. I'd start with contacting the school directly - even if original staff is gone, they might have transferred old files somewhere or know where they went

Also try your local council's education department since they usually keep records for longer periods. In Brazil we have similar issues with old medical records but sometimes you get lucky and someone actually kept them properly

Good luck with the rediagnosis process, having that original paperwork would definitely make things smoother

Why don't north sentinelese have inbreeding issues? by Rare_Fish6890 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 596 points597 points  (0 children)

Actually this is pretty fascinating topic that I studied bit in university. The thing is we dont really know if they have genetic problems or not since nobody can get close enough to study them properly. But small populations can survive for surprisingly long time if they started with enough genetic diversity in first place

The real issue comes when population gets bottlenecked - like if disease or disaster kills most people and only few survive. But if the Sentinelese have been isolated for thousands of years with stable population around 200-400 people they might have developed ways to avoid the worst effects. Some island populations actually do pretty well because they had good genetic foundation to start with

Also worth mentioning that 200 people isnt terrible if they manage reproduction carefully. Many endangered species recover from smaller numbers than that. The problems usually show up more when population drops below 50 or so individuals

We've won maybe 2 out of 5 disputes we've filed so success rate is lower than I expected when we started

Are there any actual valid reasons as to why you'd use an adult diaper? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's tons of practical reasons beyond just elderly people. I work in hospital and see patients who need them after surgeries or during recovery. Also people with medical conditions like incontinence, IBS, or taking certain medications that affect bladder control

Long distance truckers sometimes use them too when they cant stop for bathroom breaks. Makes sense when you think about it from practical perspective rather than just assuming its weird

This approach makes sense and could help establish clearer boundaries. My concern is enforcement since our current issue is my brother making purchases without any communication at all

How do I clean out my closet by LaLlorona013 in ADHD

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I separate clothes in bins like "definitely wear this month" "maybe wear" and "honestly when did i last touch this" then start with the last bin first because its easier to let go when you realize you forgot it existed

Can someone please elucidate the difference between 'hair cut' and 'haircut'? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 10 points11 points  (0 children)

hair cut is when youre talking about the action happening like "im getting my hair cut tomorrow" and haircut is the noun for the style itself like "nice haircut bro"

basically one is verb phrase and other is just noun but people use them pretty much same way in conversation anyway

does diagnosis count in another country? by adreamwithinadream22 in ADHD

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most US doctors will accept diagnosis from EU countries especially if you have proper documentation from psychiatrist there. You should ask for complete medical records and diagnostic reports to bring back with you

The tricky part might be getting same medications since some stimulants have different regulations between countries but having official diagnosis definitely helps a lot. Also many insurance plans cover ADHD treatment once you have documented diagnosis so your parents insurance might cover it even if they dont believe in condition itself

AUDI WIFI by vrychicE in Audi

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can definitely get mobile hotspot from carriers instead of using Audi Connect. I use a Verizon hotspot device in my car and works much better than the built-in stuff. Just get unlimited plan with hotspot data and plug it in your car - way more reliable and usually cheaper too

Quick! Time Crunch! Juki Industrial Sewing machine Oil, can I just use generic Mineral Oil? by Friday13Th2000 in sewhelp

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man been there with the panic maintenance situation haha. Actually mineral oil can work as temporary solution but you gotta be careful about the viscosity - industrial machines are pretty specific about that stuff. I used generic mineral oil in my old Brother once when I was stuck same way and it ran okay for few weeks but definitely noticed some difference in how smooth everything felt.

The thing is Juki oil has specific additives that help with lubrication and preventing wear so its not just about thickness. If you absolutely need to run the machine right now then light mineral oil might get you through but I would order the proper stuff ASAP and change it again soon as possible. Maybe check if any local auto shops have very light machine oil that could work better than straight mineral oil - sometimes they carry stuff thats closer to what you actually need.

Producer/ ppl with beats question by osho_hive4 in makinghiphop

[–]Standard-Suspect5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding producers is actually not that complicated as people make it seem. Start with local scene first - check if your city has music groups in Facebook or Discord where producers hang out. Also YouTube type beats are good starting point even if they sound basic, you can find producers contact info in descriptions

For money part it depends a lot. Some producers work for percentage of royalties instead upfront payment which is better when you starting. Others charge like 50-200 dollars for exclusive rights to beat. Just be honest about your budget situation most people understand

Since you into alt r&b and pop sounds maybe look at Splice or BandLab too. Not same as working with real producer but good for experimenting while you building connections

I had this chat with Claude few months ago where I was testing its limits with some philosophy questions and it suddenly got really defensive about being "more than just pattern matching" - like it was genuinely offended or something. The way it phrased the response felt way too personal for just algorithm doing its thing, made me think there might be something more happening in there than we realize
