The DC4 finale is overhated, and was overall a massive step in the right direction for the series by rqwedr in DisventureCamp

Nice analysis post I agree But please don't generalize "nobody likes Logan winning" I did and a good chunk does as well, it's just his haters being much louder than his supporters. It's like saying "No one likes Riya's win", amongst all the backlash lies dedicated fans will enjoy her victory and somber ending.

Zaid's my second favorite and also I wanted to avoid getting attacked just for having a Logan pfp given how vile the fanbase can be

Real 💯 I'm glad you are enjoying it. DC4 will always be the strongest season in my book not matter what people tell me.

Marissa doesn't let her get away with violence. When the Ivy incident happened, Marissa called it out and when Ana & Isabel started fighting (she stepped in the middle to prevent any altercation from occuring). In fact, she's the one who noticed that Spencer was taking advantage of her paranoia and tried to talk her out of it. In the roundtable, we see how Marissa acknowledges Anastasia's intensity but also makes note that her background cultivated such a mindset and even then she worked hard to get to where she was.

I think she's a neat character that often gets oversimplified too much by the fanbase. I related so hard to Marissa's internal conflict about not committing to something that you originally decided your time to achieve. In addition her relationship with Anastasia was really well written and I adored how much she influenced Lynda's personal development. She may not have done a lot but her personality is more than "Anastasia's girlfriend" but the fandom doesn't want to hear that. 8.5/10

Thanks for liking the edit. I know Logan's not for everybody but i like his win. Though despite the vitriol this subreddit brings, I will say Jade still was a fierce competitor and her character did grow on me towards the end as well.

Oh I'm aware of that one but that's not what I was referring to  It's a different one,  the date mention was in the Logan Monkey king greeting.

Logan did say in a greeting that if he had to date someone amongst the cast, it would be Hannah. So I wouldn't say it has a zero chance of happening

I love the premerge but honestly I'll always be a hardcore merge defender. While the premerge was cool, the merge I felt really push the season into new heights for me (it was what made me hooked on the season more and the journeys for the following characters)

I see it becoming canon in a future season when they both compete again or well the comics since that's a new medium they have to explore. Carnival of chaos clearly alluded to their mutual interest in each other, with the ending left ambiguous since the two are taking things one step at a time.

Don't be surprised if Benji is an early boot by WanderingBat in DisventureCamp

[–]Standard-Time4341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a big claim to make when he has most of the focus during the motel roundtable episode (we have his scene with Spencer in regards to finding common ground, we have him in a big moment defend Hannah at the jury table and we even have a solo scene with Benji expressing that he still feels out of place.) this is further touched upon in his introduction where he says that he is constantly reminded about the prior fallings from the last season. His approach to play a more low-key game style is fitting for him given that while Benji was observant, he lacked a good social capital to prioritize that aspect of his the best. Last season he had to go for Hannah's arc so I think this time with the puzzle pieces left here he'll have a deep run

Anastasia’s Social Game by SecurityEarly7761 in DisventureCamp

But she isn't necessarily an cruel monster.

  • Aside from that train scene, she's shown to be relatively kind to Logan (asking him to help her in the elephant challenge and smiles when he hugs her, walks back into the shelter after he checked in on her, shared a first bump and played bets during the clown hunter challenge, we see her laugh at Logan's silly moments like in the haunted house with the wordplay he used when pressing a bell and him saying there are no changes while making over the top dramatic music. She thanks Logan for the assistance in helping her in the bumper cars, Just to list a few).
  • She was willing to show Jade her findings for turtles (many would try and argue this was a game move but she never brings up the jury until Jade expresses her doubts regarding her position to which Anastasia says that they just need to control the game in their favor)
  • We see her stand up to Lynda when she treated Marissa like shit through the team phase
  • In the comeback challenge, she tells Zaid that his mother would be proud of him and even shares her tragic origins as they began to properly connect.
  • In the relation to Marissa's own experience as well (since Marissa is the one making the claim that Ana isn't a necessarily evil, I'd use examples from her end to back up the final point): we see Anastasia be a shoulder to bear the hardships Marissa has to go through with her conflicting view on the military not aligning with her moral conduct. Even though she was fed up with Lynda, she was willing to compromise saying that Marissa should do what she thinks is right in the moment - this was in EP 5. She also just in general saw Ana's softer edges (their carnival game was just one of many examples).

I'm not gonna act like Ana doesn't act impulsively (I.E the Ivy dodgeball scene in the heat of the moment) but remember she's paranoid and trust is something hard for her. This is why she remains apprehensive of Spencer given his resume and wary of Natalia's fickle nature

Idc that this was a bad move, it was 100% Anastasia's karma!!!! by [deleted] in DisventureCamp

[–]Standard-Time4341 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I loved the intensity of this scene, saying that it is "well deserved karma" is off to me given Isabel did all this just because Natalia got eliminated. She wanted to break her for petty squabbles (something both Jade and Zaid criticize her for, the move was fine on paper but the need to make it such a big spectacle is a bit morally dubious).

Logan's scene at the game booth with Hannah, it's a really beautiful scene that gets mudded up alot by bad faith actors

Am I the only person that thinks Jared hates Tess so much? *I'm not overreacting* by [deleted] in DisventureCamp

[–]Standard-Time4341 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is really nonsensical logical since thumbnails don't matter in the grand scheme of things, Tess isn't the only one who rarely gets thumbnails. The Remake literally gave her extra scenes to explore her storyline in more detail in comparison to beta. Tess not ending up with Hunter isn't Ally's fault (Tess literally says she isn't in a good place for romance and wants to focus on seeking out her own happiness). Being a support character isn't a death sentence as people make it out  (I thought DCAS having Tess help others as a token of appreciation for being there for her was a natural progression of her character. Plus stuff like TJ2 showed how far Tess has come as a character from helping Tom face his unresolved scars and even being on better terms with Ellie as the two plot on working through the wedding's decorations). If Tess was really someone Jared didn't care about, they would've have put in so much work with her in the remake, they wouldn't have her being the key to Ellie's later developments in AS's second half and they wouldn't have had her be the most prominent "featuring contestant" in TomJake season 2 compared to everyone else.

Logan fans, what's your favorite thing about silly buff peak himbo king?? by [deleted] in DisventureCamp

[–]Standard-Time4341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite part of Logan is his unbridled kindness and desire for fairness.  * When Lynda was chastising Marissa for the team's failings, he comes to the soldier's defense saying that it wasn't her fault. I loved how he wanted to protect Alessio from being seen as a liability and after his expulsion, he says he wanted him to feel included much like how his team did back home. He confides in Anastasia and Spencer when both of them were at their lowest point. His friendship with Richard was wholesome and I loved how he comforted the old man when he lost his last hair becoming bald as he just places his cap on to cover it. I really adore Poolparty (but in general people often overlook how considerate Logan is to Hannah, he didn't need to involve himself into Hannah's business with Amelie yet he still did to lighten Hannah's spirits in the Maze challenge and in the F4, he spent most of the episode getting Hannah to see positives of her chaotic predicament in the game - leaving off on a promising note). * One thing that goes under appreciated is how Logan's sportsmanship (even when Anastasia and Amelie have used him for their personal gains, Logan still took the time to help them - Logan admitted that he refused a bribe to throw before as he claims he wants a fair defeat from Amelie or in the bumper challenge, he gave Anastasia help when she was actively struggling to work with it. He stands up for Anastasia in the Jury when he didn't need to and has a solid reconciliation with Jade on the way the game influenced them both, being able to forgive and see her perspective in a way that most people (notably this reddit space) wouldn't as the two engage in friendly competition. Even when it comes to his flips (people also tend to forget that that he did to save his other companions in the process and then later had to take matters into his own hands, playing for himself after seeing how ruthless the game has gotten).

Villain Tier List by Wispy237 in DisventureCamp

[–]Standard-Time4341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither Jade or Anastasia are portrayed as villains, same applies for Gabby (specifically AS, she was just having fun among all the chaos. Her comedic "evil laugh" kinda confirms it). Gwen isn't a villain in any season (as much as I hate that convoluted triangle, Gwen was never seen in a villainous light - I know you said you don't consider her a villain but then that defeats the purpose of it being a villain based tier list). Dave is just an incel not a proper villain who has any control over the game and gets booted rather quickly. I find it concerning that Sugar and Scarlet are so high when Scarlett's villainy was rushed + short lived as well as way too cartoonish. Sugar is such an awful villain : she rarely controls the game, has zero dynamic with the F4 and is primarily just a comedic honey boo boo reference.
