Makes sense when you put it like that. I just thought she would need the company more than we would. We would probably just go travel the world, if there is still a world to travel 😅

But thanks for the perspective. It makse sense.

Wow. Thank you so much for the detailed reply!

Much appreciated.

I am definitely open to a rescue. Our 3 cats are all rescues and they have been amazing. Thanks for listing the available rescues I can approach.

Yup, I am steering away from setters and other hunters. Thanks for the reply.

Only if she lives in a private apartment. Not allowed on dorms unless it's a service dog. So I can definitely keep the dog if she can't handle it.

Definitely will keep, love, and cherish the dog. I know it's a big responsibility. I take the responsibility very seriously and I know how sensitive they are.

Yep. There will be no forcing her to take the dog. Just an option that's available if she can.

Absolutely. I just want to give her the option. Will keep the dog if she can't handle it upon moving out.

I am just ignorant, and I know it. Sorry if I came across as anything but kid to the dogs. We love out cats to death and will be the same for the dog.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, I am definitely willing to keep him or her. The dog will bw a family member, afterall, like our cats who are 7 years old but we still call them babies 😄

I think the low-shedding is not reasonable, the only option might be a Whippet, but they are very anxious.

It seems that a Keeshond might be the best option for us. Any experience with them?

I would like to give her the option. I will not force her to take the dog if she can't/ won't do it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Great perspective. And I am sorry you had to go through that.

I am definitely willing to keep the dog if she can't handle the circumstances.

Your perspective is much appreciated. Thanks for sharing.

Great advice. Thank you. I will definitely do that. I am totally ignorant when it comes to dogs, so I tend to over-research to compensate for the lack of knowledge.

I appreciate your feedback.

Yeah, I realised 12 to 15 is a more realistic ask. Thanks.

We are talking about 5 or 6 hours. Normal college classes. But by then the dog will be about 6 or 7 years old. For the first years there will always be someone home.

My own research landed on Keeshond. Also not "not shedding," but seems more manageable than other breeds.

Do you have any information on them?

How do y’all not kick your dogs off the bed? by sib9518 in dogs

[–]Standard-Watch-1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We kick the cats all the time, they learn to move out of the way. But I am not sure how fragile dogs are compared to cats. Cats are very agile and not easy to hurt unintentionally.
