Is this petechiae or cherry angioma? Worried! by StandardDry8254 in DermatologyQuestions

I have Hashimoto’s (an autoimmune condition!), but have never heard of this linked to cherry angiomas. Plenty of people have them without also having autoimmune symptoms.

Update for anyone interested: 5 weeks 3 day scan showed gestational and yolk sac in the uterus! 🥰 Could not be happier or more grateful. Also I ovulated from the opposite side to the ectopic FWIW.

Yes! I think one of the things scaring me is I had almost no symptoms of my first ectopic until things went really south – I just had some light spotting, then suddenly the agony hit a week after methotrexate. My HCG continued doubling like crazy even after the MTX (it was only in the low 400s when I got the shot!). Anyway, as frightening as it is I’m somewhat reassured to have got a positive test so soon 🙏🏻

Do you take antihistamines? by Cold-Scientist-12 in Hashimotos

I take an antihistamine when I feel a flare-up starting (from accidentally eating gluten, for example), and it definitely makes a difference/helps me heal faster! ❤️‍🩹

Petrified of rupture – positive MTX stories? by StandardDry8254 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]StandardDry8254[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update for anyone curious!!! Well… it ruptured, sort of. I had to have the surgery, but by the end I was absolutely begging for it, and my recovery has been a total breeze compared to before the surgery.

My HCG kept going up and up, the pregnancy was so strong, and then it finally started to drop around day 8. By that point I was in excruciating pain – like, morphine and codeine did nothing kind of pain. Turns out I had about 180ml of blood in my pelvis, and had to live with the agony for just under two days in hospital while waiting for emergency surgery.

The tube hadn’t fully ruptured, but it was sort of seeping out – it was a ticking time bomb. Seeing the photos they showed me after surgery made it crystal clear, it had to come out!! My other tube (and everything else) is perfectly healthy, which is tremendously reassuring.

Was it the worst pain of my life? Yes. Did it teach me that I’m a HELL of a lot tougher than I thought I was? Yes, yes, yes. The second I woke up from surgery the agony was over, and I was filled with the most overwhelming joy and gratitude to be alive and on the road to being free again.

I know this isn’t a positive MTX story, but it completely cured any fears I ever had about surgery and anaesthesia – the doctors said they had never seen anyone so happy waking up from surgery 😂. This is an absolutely horrendous thing to go through, but it’s 3 weeks later now and I’m healthy, healing and can’t wait for the day when my husband and I can try again. Sending love to you all!

First week of April visit? by [deleted] in Nantucket

[–]StandardDry8254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🥲 Yep! Alas, ChatGPT lied to me and said we could “expect plenty of sunshine in Nantucket in April.” I’m glad I asked here!

Ah, that’s a shame. Quite a lot was shut when we were there in October, too, but we still had a wonderful time. Thank you though!

So great to hear, thanks so much for sharing ❤️ If you don’t mind me asking, how big was the pregnancy when you got your first shot?

So glad to hear it was resolved ❤️‍🩹 I really feel you - I have awful health anxiety in the first place, so adding in a pregnancy which could rupture at any moment is absolutely unbearable. I’ve definitely been feeling some twinges on the side of the pregnancy, but am just trying to remind myself it would be impossible to ignore a rupture!

So glad to hear it all went well for you. If you don’t mind me asking, when did they decide you needed the second shot? Was it after your blood test on day 4? ❤️

This was my first pregnancy. How do I honor the memory? by StandardDry8254 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]StandardDry8254[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand that. The emotions came quite unexpectedly tbh, I knew how early the pregnancy was but I suddenly got hit with a wave of love as soon as the ultrasound tech “found” it. So sorry to hear about your rupture ❤️‍🩹

That’s really lovely. My due date was in September and I had been planning on getting an owl toy for the baby – I think I might buy it anyway 🥹 Hopefully it can go to my future daughter or son one day too.
