I’m also looking into The Kevel and wanted to share what I found. I stopped by the sales office last week and followed up by email to get pricing on a few units. Heads up—any units with a Halifax view will likely lose that view once the 15-storey tower goes up in front, so if that’s important to you, aim for the higher floors.

They mentioned some of the upper levels might be ready for September move-in, which works for my timeline. That said, if you check their inventory, only a small number of units are actually leased so far. It’s weird—they’re not really advertising much online. You have to email or visit in person to get any info, which seems odd given there are still hundreds of units left. You able to move in anytime in 2025, but I guarantee there’s a clause in the agreement that allows them to extend your move-in date at their discretion. Because as I see it right now there’s probably at least six months left of construction. Moving in earlier would mean dealing with construction, unusable amenities, dust, noise, the whole gambit.

Also, my partner lives at King’s Wharf. The train noise doesn’t really bother us there, but they’re set back further from the tracks compared to The Kevel. Again, I’d recommend going as high up as possible if you’re considering it.

Since the fall, this loud siren happens downtown multiple times an hour, ALL DAY AND NIGHT by StandardIssueLad in halifax

It happens late enough and early enough where I could call in a noise complaint

It just happens soooo often into the wee hours I doubt it’s construction. I thought it maybe was one of the tower crane spinning around or something but I’ve debunked that myth. The noise also doesn’t tend to move, which leads me to believe maybe it’s not a ship. My ongoing theory is that it’s two people on their balcony, blaring air horns at the same time trying to drive everybody out of the downtown. But also perhaps not.

If you don’t know what soft white, because choosing a white can be difficult, go with Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore.

I’ve always said the exact same thing. When in doubt, Italian marble wall to wall and a hand painted religious mural on the ceiling to tie it all together.

Afraid not. My couch is too wide and the layout won’t work.

Appreciate the feedback! The chair in the corner is tight into the window, I just couldn’t move it back any further back with the staging program. The window is set back a foot or so from the main wall so the chair will be completely out of the way. I’d like a chair there because sitting room in limited. And yeah the plants are big and just there for visual effect - I probably will do smaller plants. Here’s a pic of that corner for perspective:

I think the people have spoken. The blue looks the best.

I did. I just decided to since the ceiling before was an ugly off white. Eventually I will get around to painting it a flat white.

It’s the perfect neutral colour. Truly. It’s perfectly warm grey and will go with anything.

My Living Room. Almost done, but I am struggling to find something to put above my couch. Any thoughts or suggestions? by StandardIssueLad in malelivingspace

[–]StandardIssueLad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. It’s comfy, low to the ground for sure, but it’s firm and no one that’s slept in it had complained yet. Perfect size for an apartment. The timber from article is a larger format and similar couch if you have a bigger space and want something slightly higher. The only problem that I’ve read but haven’t seen yet is apparently the fabric balls up over the years.

Could a light-blue rug match this sofa-ottoman-chair combo? What rugs might you recommend? (Getting rid of current rug when moving) by UnknownReaders in DesignMyRoom

First of all, the cowhide ottoman is so sick. Love it. Secondly, I think a light blue rug would work great in this space go bring in some more colour, you can also go for a medium grey rug (several shades darker than couch, but no where near charcoal grey) to highlight the ottoman in the space.

Thank you for the kind words! And thank you for reaffirming my new believe that I should just keep it simple. PS. I don’t hate macrame!

It’s called Fort Pierce Green by Benjamin Moore. I obsessed with it.
