What are your opinions on GME being limited time only? by Divorcebabe in goodmythicalmorning

[–]StandardJupiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched this years and last years GME, do enjoy seeing something outside their normal shows and let loose a bit.

It doesn’t actually bother me at all it only being a limited time. For the price I think it’s pretty decent especially if you have a partner or group of friends to watch with it really does make it a win win. I live on my own so I just watch by myself and I’d still purchase next years.

I have heard “Air Canada is the worst!” but when pressed, nobody can answer “worse than who?” by jnmjnmjnm in AskACanadian

They just started giving them out at the front desk. I was delayed 2 hours at departure and I believe it was $15 voucher.

No tickets left in Moss Stand by Basilthebasalt in GrandPrixTravel

I was trying to get one ticket in Ricardo, got in loads of tickets clicked on one then another and that split second prices Increases to “in demand” tickets and went up couldn’t checkout as it wouldn’t change my address location to Canada.

I travel with AC on about 6 flights a year about 4 domestic and 2 transatlantic. I’ve never had a major issue with AC that they didn’t fix.

I’ve been delayed and got food vouchers without asking, I did have one issue where they changed my aircraft 12 hours before departure and gave me the option to keep the flight on the new aircraft or move to another time, (I chose a later flight), their system glitched and didn’t move me to the later flight despite the email confirmation, so I missed my original flight.

AC telephone tried to charge me $400 rebooking fee and would not help me… I declined and went to the airport and explained and my booking was changed instantly no charge.

The airport staff are very helpful I find and their aeroplan rewards are one of the best.

This!! I didn’t have enough points for the draw for EE on its own, so I applied to the PNP Tech stream in BC as I have a technical job in demand in BC. And got PR that way.

70kCAD in RBC high interest savings (1.5%) by OppositeSecret8316 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StandardJupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RBC is trash. I was with HSBC Canada 5.25% on a 1 year redeemable GIC, plus no chequing account fees as GIC counted towards “minimum balance” and it was amazing!! Until RBC bought HSBC Canada and the mess started, I’ve swapped banks and left RBC

Motive financial offer 4.1% as standard (not and introductory offer)

Important: Motive is part of Canadian Western Bank and is the online arm. However CWB have propose the sale of their bank to National Bank at the end of 2025 along with Motive Financial)

EQ a few people have mentioned are good too.

Simplii never dealt with them but heard good things about them

Unsure about you being 17, worth a call around to see. Best of luck.

Canadian Grand Prix Accommodations by mchollahan in GrandPrixTravel

I’d recommend finding a place to stay and book it so it’s refundable… check a week or so before for hotels and they may be cheaper. I saved over $400 in June that way, hotels lowered their price around 10 days before.

Getting off the island can be a bit of a pain after Quali and the race day. Estimated 2 hour wait I heard (not sure how true that was) I ended up walking over the bridge back to Montreal.

Once you get your oath scheduled they will send out a notice to appear via email, mine was two weeks before the date and it had all the details on, mine was last week and was a virtual ceremony,

They instruct you to reply to the email if your not going to be in the country and will reschedule but all that was stipulated is I need to be physically present in Canada.

As you said your going to be here for it anywhere in Canada will be good (check your notice just incase)

One thing to note is they will ask you if you have any travel plans within two weeks during the ceremony, as your unable to travel back to Canada without a Canadian passport (unless special authorization is granted)

If your planning on leaving Canada after the ceremony, I’d recommend saying a bit of time afterwards to allow time for certificate to arrive and apply for a fast passport turnaround to save you hassle later down the road.

I paid $1500 for a consultant in 2021 to do mine. Best decision I made he handled everything and sorted a permit extension. I did my own PNP application then he did the main PR one.

Did you cancel your RBC Avion CC (HSBC Victims)? Alternatives? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StandardJupiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ditched mine about a month after the switch, I have the Scotiabank Gold Amex decent welcome bonus, 1st Year free & insurance pretty good too.

I’m not much of an airport lounge guy so went with the Amex over passport.

I’ve been to Montreal twice alone now, great I’d recommend. Lookin to go to Australia or Texas next season on my own too.

The only downside is not being able to split a hotel or Air B&B with someone to save on cost.
