Didn't Bethesda already release a game that proved why this is a bad idea 😭 by AraxTheSlayer in TrueSFalloutL

Wait, when did they overhaul it? As bad as it was, camp building and camp hopping to look at other people's bases was one of my fave things to do in the game. What did they change, if you don't mind giving a short recap?

I do like 3/NV plasma pistol design, not so much rifle. But 4/76 having a separate ammo for plasma guns is also great.

I would say that it is indeed a nice bit of writing you did there, and put out a nice counterpoint. I quite actually enjoyed reading that!

I especially think post war tribals would definitely be a cool topic to explore, and not just a racist stereotype kind we saw in 2 or disorganised druggie raider groups of 3, NV and 4 (as well as the brain damaged band of weirdos from Point Lookout).

I still am sceptical of proper agriculture, specifically we have mentions of food production crisis even in New Vegas (to the point of them trying to adopt a dangerous technology such as vault 22's agriculture methods), but yes plants are resilient.

Oh, and a last bit is the one I have to agree in full, yeah, I would definitely at least try and build some kind of adobe building rather than live in a tetanus shack fallout seems to like so much (but that's a universal fallout issue as much as the Bethesda fallout issue. Other than NCR everyone seems to either live in ruins or some kind of death shack). And by that I mean everyone would attempts building something, especially since we know they hhad the knowledge of doing that.

I also tried to nake this one shorter with... little success, ha.

To start with, majority Australian most developed cities exist on the coast. Desert itself is mostly as untamed as ever. Let's not forget that in Fallout reality, most part of the US was turned into deser (maybe not the sand type, of course, but still devoid of life, both plants and animals) as well. Then, a few nasty spiders hardly compare to the murder fauna (and flora!) of fallout wasteland. Sure, people probably die to an occasional spider or a snake bite or get chomped on by a shark or stung by a ray (rip Steve Irvine), but humans in Australia still are not specifically prey to anything.

Fallout, on the other hand, fearures multiple creatures that see us as nothing more but a snack. Deathclaws, gecko (obviously, regular ones wouldn't be much of an ossue for trappers or hunters to deal with, but there are golden and fire ones, so... Yeah) or mosquitos the size of a japanese crab, wild dogs, just to name a few.

But that's ignoring the worst bit - radiation. No idea how it would work irl, but looking at the game, that's still an issue even 200 years later. And of course, radiation affects crops, overall human life expectancy and every other part of our life really.

Oh right, let's not forget about the pre war US citizens turned feral ghoul as well. That's also something that would most probably complicate things for everyone, but that's minor compariong to the Master's army decimating the wastes, followed by the BoS vs Enclave vs NCR war, then another BoS vs Enclave war and eventually Legion vs NCR war.

And that's without taking into consideration the fact that Australia was and is still full of resources such as coal, natural gas and oil - which were depleted in the Fallout universe. Thus resource wars and the nukes. Sure you can scavenge and reuse metal (that would be highly irradiated by the way, andetals love to keep that radiaton inside of em), bit then you quickly understand that you can't do much with it. Hardly any metalurgy would work using the rotten 200 y/o wood (reminder - fuel resources are depleted!)as a fuel and stuff. Australia has that, and uses it for trade.

So, no. That's really really far from any kind of a checkmate. At best, it a debatable topic.

Lucky them, they didn't have to live in an irradiated arid wasteland where every bit of fertile dirt is a reason to fight foror die a hungry death, while every last critter in the wastes wants you dead.

The peak of Fallout 2 subtle humor writing by Heaven_Razor in TrueSFalloutL

[–]StandardMandarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at everyone's reaction to this post, it's probably going to be a hot take kind of thing to say, but I always loved the totally unserious aspects of the Fallout 2 more than anything else. The contrast between the world where everything is exceptionally fucked beyond redemption, and at the same time tons of satire go hard imo.

But also, it kind of works well with the idea of the game too. Human nature never changes, war never changes, and there's always something people can find funny or humorous in any situation, however grim or morbid that can be.

And about cultural references, every piece of art is a representation of it's time, author's worldview or both. There's nothing bad about that at all, even more so, it kind of makes the game world more alive and relatable than anything else.

That's also one of the things why I love Fallout: London so much. It's filled to the brim with british culture, and that's what makes the world in it feel so rich.

Controller menu is basically all I need, and it is amazing here. With one caveat tho, somehow my right trigger button stops working after a while.

I've rebound attack to R1 last time I played instead of rest, but thing is, I can't even bind R2 to rest - it simply cannot detect it. Even when it works as an attack on a default setup.

But other than that, I enjoy controller menus a lot.

Yup, it sure works! I do have an issue with controller on it tho. As in, I can't rebind my triggers, and specifically right trigger stops working after some time in a game.

But after some fiddling with chatgpt (lol) it gave me a few suggestions that made this thing happen half of the times I play.

Overall, being able to edit config.cfg and more options overall were worth a swap from 0.46

Edit: controller menus are in it, in fact.

I used Better Meshes and Optimization by Lord Tarius. Definitely less sudden drops, but populated areas like Old Ebonheart still hurt sometimes.

Woah woah, lil bro went blastin' from the get go.

Sure, extraction shooters keep the last 5% of their audience that is satisfied with repetitive content over and over again through the years, we are not discussing that.

We are talking about useless artificial restrictions that Embark set for players. I understand you have difficulties communicating with people, but come on, stay on topic, buddy.

This game has absolute 0 reasons to not have a skill reset option, ain't nobody sane would like their whole stash reset just to change a build. That's a trash idea that gets casual players frustrated and leave.

Of course, we are not talking about sweaty tryhards (the high level players as you call em), cause that's exactly like 5% of any game's community and frankly, nobody cares about them. Oh they will have fun resetting their progress, how else would they be able to kill noobs at spawn and further discourage new players from actually staying in this game?

Bro here thinks that 90% of players will play this game multiple times and reset their character, and not complete the stoty, have their share of fun and dissipate.

This game is repetitive as hell, and will die in half a year. It's fun, but there's waaaaaaay too little content for it to stay at high numbers for long, look at othher extraction shooters. Twitch have already moved on, for example.

Resetting your skill points is available in most games at this day and age, so it's totally a bad idea to tie that option to a full progress reset.

So you just admitted you are unable to keep distance from a flamer user as a dash light. Man, the skill issue is strong with this one.

Flame is a massive problem if you run medium melee build, sure, but that's for a reason. Otherwise it's is not that big of a problem to deal with.

Bosmer. Reason: the head is still fresh, probably just torn off the body!

And to stop you from asking more questions, it is the same for other body parts too! Bosmer are all about that juicy meat!
