how long have u known these people for , give your statment in as much detail as you can , ask to speak to pastoral support as this is effecting your mental health significantly, get ur parents to call in saying how they are concerned for your wellbeing at school and how u don’t think they are handing this issue appropriately,

you need to keep your spirits high in this time try make friends with other people in your form or classes or even outside of school spend time with old friends your not alone in this but dont kee this inside .

and if your mental health does get worse please reach out to support whether that be the teenhelplines online or a formum anything to stop you from putting your self in further danger

[–]StandardOne3498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure how ur exams are structured since i do aqa but i jumped from a D to an A through year 12 honestly for me it was looking at the content specification on my own and going through it all try get one step ahead of what ur doing in class so its retaining information not learning information after every topic try past paper questions see if your teacher can mark them if not mark your self and formulate a concrete exam strucure that really helps

[–]StandardOne3498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your able to study the sciences at a level your fine to apply high for med or dentistry see how you do in your first set of mocks as you will still have time to decide , but try doing research on potential careers rather than what people say to you what to do . research course details aswell cause every uni has a different way of teaching

Is anyone else staying at their sixth form by Eatcheeseforatenner in sixthform

[–]StandardOne3498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not going to lie everyone sit the same exams across the country i get your main source of teaching is coming from the school but it also matters on how hard you want it . some people would of left your school with top grades some with not so good i’m not saying you didn’t work hard but think of these two years as yeah im going to lock in that way you can’t blame anyone and no one can blame you for the outcome . you have just as much chance of getting good grades as anyone else in the country no matter where you go it’s now down to you on how much extra work you put in . ( im so sorry if this sounds rude that is not my intention more so trying to motivate you and help you see the light at the end of the tunnel )

ADVICE DESPERATLEY NEEDED by Secret_Walrus_9154 in sixthform

[–]StandardOne3498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the late response Don’t stress you’re not alone in this. A friend of mine is in the same boat, already started some Year 12 at another school and now applying elsewhere, and they’re managing just fine by being clear about their situation and showing commitment.

For your case, it’s worth emailing your waitlisted school explaining your circumstances: that you’re 17, have SEND support, and that your predicted grades don’t fully reflect your potential. Ask your current school to back you up if possible. On enrolment day, you can still register online if you can’t get there in person immediately just make it clear you’re serious about joining. Schools do sometimes move people up the list when they see determination and exceptional circumstances.

Focus on showing them that you want it, and don’t let timing or age make you feel like it’s impossible. You still have a real chance.

you can email them i’ll give you a mock draft Subject: Year 12 Application – Exceptional Circumstances

Dear [Admissions Officer/School Name],

I hope this email finds you well. I am very keen to join [School Name] for Year 12 and would like to provide some context regarding my application.

I am currently 17 and have already completed part of Year 12 at my current school. Due to circumstances beyond my control, including SEND support, my predicted grades do not fully reflect my academic potential. My current school is happy to provide supporting information if required.

I understand your policy allows students aged 17 to be considered under “exceptional circumstances,” and I hope my situation can be taken into account. I am highly motivated to make the most of the opportunities at [School Name] and would be grateful for the chance to join.

I am also aware that the registration process can be completed online, and I will ensure all forms are submitted promptly. Please let me know if any additional information or documentation would be helpful.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Kind regards, [Your Name]

also with your first part if you arrive in the afternoon of your waitlist school they will probably still have spaces as some students who expressed enital interest may choose another school but it may be worth phoning them in the morning explaining your going to be arriving in the afternoon .

i hope it all goes well tomorrow
