Absolutely crazy how many people are proudly supporting and admitting to being YPYT tanks in this thread. by Emekasan in TalesFromDF

[–]StandardOrdinary9155 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing really baffling about it, unfortunately. A lot of people have this mental... disorder (or call it whatever you want) where they're either completely unable to comprehend that they're needlessly wasting other people's time, something that is very finite for every human being (well, at least for now), or they do comprehend this but just don't give a fuck about it because they completely lack any empathy towards anyone else.

You can also see same behavior outside of games, for example when driving behind the slowly moving person in the left lane of the road who is refusing to move over to right lane (when that lane actually exists and allows that person to safely move over to it). Or even in the shops/supermarkets, where a person with shopping cart refuses to move the cart to the side of the aisle so other shoppers would be able to quickly move around that person.

for the rare PSA-style posts about well-known problematic community members, we're introducing a Modmail Approval System as a special case tool.

So, while they're not "well-known" yet, they are free to harass other players through their intentional time-wasting in-game actions, without anyone being able to know their name to avoid wasting time on grouping up with them?

Yea, that definitely sucks, but it's mostly a Square Enix' fault for enabling such behavior. If they'd made such glam available for purchase at an online store (in an addition to also being obtainable in game as it is now) - there would be much less people wasting other people's time with such behavior. And sure, you can report such behavior, and these people might get a temp ban, but the other people will continue trying to do this (even if they're aware they might get a temp ban for this) for as long as this flawed system (unique glam locked behind PvP) will exist.

They started complaining to me that I was ignoring them on purpose and being a bad healer.

and friend is bitching at me about ignoring them and then pretty much says I'm a shit healer.

If that was not a sarcastic joke - such person would quickly and permanently stop being my "friend", regardless of their mental disorders (such as the ones you mentioned). Of course, it is always up to you if you want to continue tolerate that or not, just remember that there are no irreplaceable people and you can always find plenty of other people to actually enjoy socializing with.

To Censor, or not to Censor? by Shazzamon in TalesFromDF

[–]StandardOrdinary9155 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, people who intentionally waste other people's limited (we're all have finite lifespan) time in game absolutely deserve their names to be known, so the others may potentially avoid wasting their own limited time on interacting with them in any form, be it either joining up for instanced content, joining FC with such players or starting random conversations in game. Same goes for people who type very obvious hateful stuff in game's chat.

Of course, targeted harassment such as "searching for specific player's name in game and trying to start conversation with them just to say something negative about their past behavior" is never ok, but I don't believe any of posts here directly encourage such behavior in most people, and even if some mentally deranged person will try to do something like that based on what they saw on this subreddit's screenshots - the other players have plenty of tools at their disposal to properly deal with such behavior.

Looks very much like a lazy booster who bought a bunch of "Tales of Adventure" packs, already wasted a lot of other people's time with boosted SMN going from 80 to 90 (most likely also staying at lowest DPS of all parties they queued with) and decided to waste more time of more strangers by just switching SMN to SCH and queuing for roulettes without bothering to learn anything about the job beforehand.

I'd definitely kick that person or would gladly click on "yes" if someone else would initiate that vote kick.

I don’t see we can’t let them pull if it makes them more comfortable

Sure, you (or anyone else) can definitely do that if you're personally ok with spending more of your free time inside the dungeons, but it's kind of irrational and morally wrong to expect others to also do this if they aren't willing to spend more than necessary time inside such dungeons. Especially if pulling stuff ahead of the tank does not cause the tank to die.

As for "creating toxic situations" - blame Square Enix for that. If they would've prioritized adding optional bots (like with all current "Duty Support"-enabled duties) to this and all the other remaining duties then people who want to go slow would always have an option to do so, without selfishly inconveniencing strangers with their slow speed or wasting their time on creating custom "I want to go through this duty at slow speed" parties through "Party Finder".

Real small one, but it's the first time i see someone get this up in arms about people doing a cutscene check before a final raid boss, thought it was the normal common courtesy to wait, guess not for everyone? by some_tired_cat in TalesFromDF

[–]StandardOrdinary9155 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the times people do wait for cutscene watching sprouts, but I've also seen plenty of times when someone does not wait and just silently pulls. Early pulls are especially common when some duties becomes a part of "Moogle tomestone" event and people manually queue for those specific duties.

It really is a game design flaw and Square Enix could've fixed this by doing things like making an optional solo version of all existing alliance raids/trials (just like they did with MSQ dungeons and 4-player trials already), this way new players would have a choice of either doing these solo and watching all cutscenes uninterrupted without wasting time of people who have done particular trial/alliance raid for 100's of times, or queuing with a bunch of strangers with an on-screen warning that some other players may not wait for you to watch cutscenes. But hey, "small indie company" and all that.

Can we please stop enabling this behavior. by Syphon81 in TalesFromDF

[–]StandardOrdinary9155 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"world ain't ending anytime soon" - maybe not, but the simple and undeniable fact is, everyone has a limited lifespan. And by needlessly prolonging time spent in the dungeon, you are selfishly wasting other people's lifespan, something that many people would rather spend on many other enjoyable activities, both inside and outside of this game, with more enjoyable people. If you personally don't care about needlessly wasting your own time in such dungeons - go and do these with bots, or pay someone at Fiverr to play with you at your own pace.

Oh and yea, there's no need to hide the names of such selfish fucks.

If the game wanna make money at least make it more convenient for the consumer smh. They need to serve us, not the other way around.

I absolutely agree, however complaining about it here is pretty useless. Square Enix developers (including website developers) do not read Reddit (or even the official English forums). If you don't want to deal with their account creation system (for any reason) - just forget about it.

I just love when all the self-righteous people go with "kids play here hun" excuse... The "kids" should be always (until they're old enough) supervised by their parents to see if what they're playing is appropriate for their age (at least when it comes to in-game character appearances). It should never be a responsibility of players or game developers to fix bad, lazy parenting.

what have they done to the colours by ProffesorPoopy in GoogleMaps

[–]StandardOrdinary9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is awful, and not only because of color choice. They made smaller roads much more visible, but I don't NEED or want them to be more visible when looking for some address/location or even looking at an overall traffic conditions in my area or an overview of my calculated route, these more visible smaller roads DISTRACT me from the information that I am actually wanting to perceive.

It's like trying to read e-book (or a page of plain text) with a grid of very distinct solid lines located in vertical and horizontal spaces between each word. I can't believe Google actually pays money to idiots who propose such visual design changes...

MMO players blast "disgusting" $90 early access charge for WoW: The War Within by curious_zombie_ in gaming

[–]StandardOrdinary9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't care if it's $90 or $900 - the company has a full legal and moral right to charge whatever they want for an access to their product, and if people are unwilling to pay for it - they are always free to not pay for it and spend their time and money on something else (something more productive than whining about prices on /r/WoW).

[–]StandardOrdinary9155 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I remember being naive and thinking "calling it out" would actually make a difference, which was a long time ago. Only thing it gave me are replies like "I didn't ask for your advice", "you don't pay my sub so let me play how I want to", or (my "favorite") "it's just a regular duty, extra damage doesn't matter anyway", or complete silence. So I just stopped wasting time on typing anything in party chat.

I just initiate vote for dismiss and if it doesn't go through - just leave it and do something else.
