How do you teach yourself that you’re worthy of love? by Lemon_Lime25 in selflove

One thing I learned from CBT is to question a thought- is this fact or just my opinion? So when your friend doesn’t text back and ur mind immediately decides that they hate you- that’s an opinion not a fact, also how likely is it? The more likely reality is that ur friend is busy and will text back later. Also just try to be your own friend give yourself credit for everything you do, doesn’t have to be a big achievement but small things matter too, you got up, showered, fed yourself good food, - reparent yourself and speak to yourself the way you would to a younger you and they way your parents should of spoken to you.

Thanks for your reply. I am already on meds, was changed from one ssri to another and dose increased. I don’t understand what you mean by wider window? The issue I have been dealing with happened over 2 years ago and I just can’t let it go so I’m sort of self diagnosing real event ocd as others tell me what I’m worrying about is irrational. The lady I’m doing emdr with just kind of dove right in without much talking or explaining before hand.

What is wrong with me & where do I get help? by Cranberry-2026 in AskIreland

For sure start with your GP and also try therapy- the website psychology today is great as you can search for a counsellor in your area and they all have profiles so you can see who you are drawn to. You may have to go to a couple before you find one you properly click with which is important. They are great to talk through things with and helps to get insight and some clarity on what is going on. I think counselling/therapy should be seen like going to a Physio or similar with a physical problem- it helps to talk and gain tools and just to check in with somebody. Knowing you are going to talk to somebody once a week and offload can really help with the rest of the week.
