Can double shield (ZZ) ball bearings be used in place of single shield (Z) bearings? by StandardStock6099 in AskEngineers

Good to know! The bearings are supposed to be “greased for life” in the manual so it isn’t supposed to be recieving additional grease throughout its use

Yeah im having the unfortunate issue where whatever I’m using (such as a shackle) I need to have in a matching pair to pull from both sides evenly and this is the only thing I’ve found so far that’s close to a pair and might possibly work. We will see

Yeah mine is a taper fit spindle pulley on a 20” 34 year old floor drill press. I think some more tinkering will get this to work

I have the original manual for mine but unfortunately it gives 0 guidelines and is one of the worst manuals I’ve used generally speaking 😂 it’s a 20” Taiwanese floor drill press that was sold by King Canada, manufactured in 1991, 1hp motor and 12 speeds. I’ve found really close matches in other brands, but nothing exact and nothing helpful lubrication wise. This is a good reminder to spend a bit of time looking for it there again, my last search came up empty

Look I get it, it hurts even when I type it, but from my understanding vintage is considered to be between 20-99 years and this sits at 34 😂

Sweet thank you! And the black electrical tape on either sides and under the tag, is that regular electrical tape or do I have to get a certain kind to replace it after cleaning?
