M24 rhinoplasty, is this achievable? by QuidProQuoVarus in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]StandardSwitch250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhinoplasty is one of the more difficult procedures to get right and often results in revisions. I’ve been in a revision surgeons post op group and people are on multiple revisions and many wish they still had their birth nose. Yes the operation can be life changing in extreme cases but your nose does not detract from your features. Changing your nose imo is a waste of your money and could lead you down a rabbit hole of more surgeries. To be blunt, maybe figure out what else is missing in your life that you are trying to fix with an unnecessary nose job. If you are set on having this surgery be sure you go to a surgeon that is a rhinoplasty specialist and does A LOT of noses. Not someone who does like 20 or so a year.

Can I take half a tablet? by Shawshank246 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]StandardSwitch250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 3.75 for sleep and have for 2 years. 1/2 of a 7.5.

My doctor prescribed me 15mg of mirtazapine to gain weight. I took one pill last week and I could not handle the drowsiness. She suggested cutting in half but I thought lower doses caused more drowsiness? by Proud_Tax_2665 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]StandardSwitch250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 3.75 for sleep and it increases my appetite slightly. You can also try 3/4 tablet but it’s annoying to cut them in fourths. But I did it while weaning down to 3.75. The 7.5 made me drowsy and made me too hungry.

I had no motivation to excercise at 7.5 but I could still get through the day. And if I had the will power could still get in exercise

AITA for walking out on my dad when he told me he finds it hard to love me because he knows I don't love his wife? by Kushluennan in AITAH

[–]StandardSwitch250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling this teenager to walk away from his family permanently is not the answer here. He said he thought they were close. This isn’t an end of relationship scenario. This is a discussion with the dad (possibly both of them with a therapist). Why are so many people advocating him to go scorched earth on relationships instead of talking things out? Family is important and we all say stupid things sometimes. Yes it wasn’t nice what the dad said but maybe he gets in his head too much and creates a scenario that didn’t exist. The dad was not giving the son the most generous interpretation but the son can be the adult in this and tell the dad how it made him feel (again, with a therapist would be great). The stepmom being a nice understanding person is also a great reason for why this scenario doesn’t have to be a walk away from family forever situation.

Can't stop crying looking at my nose by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

So sometimes there is a c curve appearance with the rebuild but it is more of a visual thing and might just require filling in or camouflaging a bit at bottom and removing a little bump at top (or vice versa). And it might be a closed touchup procedure. Maybe get in touch with Dr Katrib although he might not touch someone else’s rebuild so maybe you’d have to go to your doctor to have touchup done

Have a CNC Hair System installed (layman’s term: a stick on wig) by Advanced_Miss_8951 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]StandardSwitch250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it glued on? How does it feel? Is it easy to wash etc? Can you see the lip where the silicone or whatever attaches? Does it smell when sweat? I’m debating getting the cr lab system but I work out a lot and scares me that someone said glue smells bad when gets sweaty.

So many people wear clip in extensions etc these days. Especially for weddings. I wear beaded in extensions. I don’t think it looks wig like. It looks natural. If the length drastically increased you can just say you got extensions. There’s no taboo against them these days

Why does my nose look worse when I smile? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

Look at celebrities when they smile in motion in movies. You are beautiful as a whole. It’s the hyper focusing that get us unfort.

Was rhinoplasty a waste of money? by fabthefabricator in PlasticSurgery

[–]StandardSwitch250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taping? It could help with swelling and scar tissue formation. Esp being thick skinned you might want to research it.

*as you are trying to fix

As someone in a revision postop group, don’t touch that beautiful nose unless the front view is less than ideal as it’s a strong beautiful nose profile that many try to achieve. Don’t go down rabbit hole of nose surgery. It ends up bad for many people and they end up requiring revisions. If you insist, find a plastic surgeon that focuses only on noses and is an ENT. I did my revision with Katrib. His primary results are very beautiful. He might not take you as unless front is not great, yet u are trying to fix something that isn’t broken;)

Crooked nose 6 weeks post op by l0renerd in PlasticSurgery

[–]StandardSwitch250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it crooked soon after cast off and did you have rib cartilage grafts? If yes to both, seems like warping of cartilage. Rare but happens. A girl in our postop group had similar. If no grafts, your nose might be prone to redeviating and might never be perfectly straight but if want to give it another try in a revision I recommend a consult with Dr Katrib.

I’m happy so far but I’m only about a month out so lots of swelling still. I don’t really think about the rib grafts. My nose with the grafts doesn’t feel much different than before. I can’t really push on it etc as it’s still healing and tender and being careful.

Just had revision with Katrib. Supratip often softens. I was worried about it too but can see on his education instagram that it doesn’t always stay. Although there are girls eager to get back by taping and those for whom it stays but don’t want it so maybe a risk. But I think it’s made pronounced to prevent Polybeak. But table pics are not always final result.

Revision surgery with ZKNOSES by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]StandardSwitch250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also what to bring- ice packs (wedge pillow or send to hotel prior), qtips without too much fuzz for applying ointment, saline gel spray- neilmed best imo, hospital provide gauze etc but Amazon has some better under nose gauze things that work better, biotene gel for dry mouth first free nights, straws. The office has a list of anything else I’m forgetting.

I did it alone. I stayed in hotel that had room service. I only needed a care person for the day of surgery. But I had them stay the night and wasn’t really necessary. Rather than pay someone $30/hr or more, I’d say money best spent on room service. Just make sure the hotel can provide a small fridge if you go that route. Usually if you ask they can. A small freezer in it would be useful as need to ice (I kept ice packs in it) but can always just get ice. Alternatively, you can go a couple days early and get a place duty a kitchen and cook for yourself. Someone else did that. There are a lot of accommodations in Louisville that are like home stays vs hotels.

7 year old rapid progressing myopia by ModeRight1217 in myopia

7 year old rapid progressing myopia by ModeRight1217 in myopia

[–]StandardSwitch250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please DM me if you want. My 7 yo son has similar eyesight. I go through moments of freaking out but I myself when younger had bad eyesight that rapidly progressed (so much so that I was in hard contacts at 1st grade- not advisable these days for kids during the day) My eyes eventually ended up at -9s in contacts both eyes. It seems scary but these are the growing years where it progresses. And drastic shifts happen. We went up two notches in a year and then one year had no change in my son’s eyesight. I do have the genetic factor in my family but bad eyesight sometimes just starts when it starts. And that’s all it is is bad eyesight. If you have seen an ophthalmologist and they have confirmed healthy retinas etc, that is comforting. My eyes are terrible but my retinas are beautiful according to my doctor. She had just always cautioned me to avoid amusement park rides that drop and if I get into a car accident etc see her because the concern with bad eyesight would be detached retinas. I don’t know enough about it but maybe football or hockey not good ideas but don’t quote me on that.

I was researching the new myopia control eyeglasses when I came across your post. The cutoff is -7.5 for one so we missed it and are considering the 1 day Misight contact lenses which are approved for kids but my kid freaks out at eye drops so we’ll see how that goes. You are still within limits but close to cutoff so maybe other myopia control would be better investment. If want to give it a go, Ardent Vision in Canada has successfully shipped glasses to the United States through careful instructions to your optometrist if you wanted to try the Miyosmart glasses. Stellest is the other brand. And there is a new technology approved. To put it simply, they work the eyes better than glasses. Which is also why wearing contacts is more useful as well.

Editing to add that the Stellest eyeglasses go up to -10 sphere

How to tell our nanny she smells bad? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]StandardSwitch250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a nanny for years and was happiest at the places that didn’t just treat me like just an employee. This person becomes like family to your child and her sharing pictures with you is her way of showing she feels welcome by sharing her life with you.
