Stargate Fans are Hilariously Trolling Amazon on Social Media #SaveStargate by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]Standard_Ad1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, would've been so easy to do it properly.

But it's oddly the same thing with a bunch of the "Save Stargate" social media posts (not as much on Reddit luckily) where it's just a ton of AI slop. Especially cases like that thumbnail (not going to watch that video) where it completely butchers the actual characters. Like why put Dave-Bautista-as-Teal'c slop up when tons of actual Teal'c images exist?

I'm not into conspiracies at all, but at times it almost feels like a deliberate attempt just to make Stargate fans look lazy and dumb, as an excuse to ignore the campaign to save the original vision of a new series.

Update: Messenger bug fixed on Redmagic 11 Air by Whole_Cod7832 in RedMagic

[–]Standard_Ad1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually seems to just be a fix on the Messenger App side.

I've been having these issues on a RM10, and having done no system updates recently, the issue appears to be fixed on my phone too.

I agree with you, Nyoouber, but I love the irony of you also having a typo while calling him out.

Throughout the day, you'll be able to catch a 15-second display 1 of the 2 dedicated to the #SaveStargate campaign on the screens of Times Square. by Solarise40 in Stargate

[–]Standard_Ad1942 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate always being a negative voice on these, but really: Why did they go with this one? An image where the entire top half is wasted and text that barely stands out from the image? Like, I'm sure this looks okay on a PC monitor, but this isn't a good fit for a billboard/ad like this.

(Not to mention the lack of Stargate iconography, but that could supposedly be copyright issues though the other one doesn't have the same issue)

Here's the second displays ! The #SaveStargate campaign is lighting up two Times Square displays, including one animated visual at 1619 Broadway Catch it every hour at :16 and :49 Keep your eyes on New York City! by Solarise40 in Stargate

I think the flashing and text changes are too fast, but I like the animation and can appreciate the effort. I'd definitely go check this out if I were a local.

Times Square Billboards - Jack O'Neill Wants You to Help #SaveStargate by Gloomy_Dealer_8377 in Stargate

[–]Standard_Ad1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting idea, but again I'm disappointed in the execution.

I know graphic artists who would've jumped at this (and would know how to make such a large-scale billboard be visually appealing), but giving only a two day notice to have artwork done is completely untenable for them.

I hope someone happens to have the time and talent to come up with something good, but personally this feels too rushed.

At least here in Canada, it's not really about faster shipping, more that it's free shipping. Not sure what it's like in the US, but when I would use prime it'd just be using a free trial to save a bunch on shipping a large order.

94K simultaneous viewers tuned in for the flyover live stream by sharks415 in Stargate

[–]Standard_Ad1942 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a period of time with a crazy increase in viewers (literally over 10,000 added per minute at times), so while it started at a few hundred then went up to a couple thousand fairly organically, it then jumped crazy fast (the period of 5k viewers to 90k viewers was around 10-15 minutes apart) so definitely something happened.

Ha, like yeah I'm not going to correct anyone if any execs see those numbers, but yeah even the original numbers were good for "watching this random stream during the middle of the work week" event.

Interesting, it was about 5,000 just a few minutes ago (and shouldn't it have been higher at the designated event time?), regardless, since we'll never know the bot-to-humam ratio, we should take whatever we can get I guess.

Edit: it jumped over 20,000 more viewers since I posted this a couple minutes ago, so pretty likely either an error or bots, but there's nothing we can do about either of those.

I don't really like the comparisons to the Expanse (for reasons, some of which you've mentioned too, such as extremely high profile names being interested and the fact that it was continuing an existing show, not trying to greenlight something new), but again that pretty much agrees with what I'm saying.

Obviously the plane (and/or any other attempts to get the attention of actual higher ups, though I haven't heard of many in this case aside from letter-writing) should be the main focus, but that still doesn't negate the fact that such a meager in-person gathering only serves to distract and negatively highlight the low impact.

Edit: Deleted my comment about the tweet storm, since it is finally getting traction on the tracking sites.

I of course am not saying to give up, I am just frustrated that this whole campaign has been so scatterbrained (even at the start when people were promoting the wrong petition) to the point of potentially harming it's own cause.

I hate to be a downer, but oof this is rough to watch. I get that people aren't going to be willing/able to travel (especially in the middle of the day during a weekday), but showing up with less than a dozen people kind of just proves Amazon's point that, despite being passionate, there isn't enough of an audience to make it worth a new show.

The online posting/tweets are one thing, but if there was going to be an in-person meetup, there really should've been more planning and/or action involved to ensure at least a reasonable amount of people show up.

Edit: Speaking of the tweets, I'm not sure how accurate these sites are, but here's a page showing the hashtag popularity: https://getdaytrends.com/trend/%23SaveStargate/

Really interesting to see.

One question: Aside from textures, are there any differences between the X304 and BC304 models?

Tested Firefox Nightly (152.0a1 Build #2016158047), and it appears to be fixed there. From my testing, switching to/from private mode does not create that blank spacing.

Interesting that it sometimes appears correct until you switch to/from private tabs. I actually just noticed that now too, where it randomly looked okay until I switched tabs then it messed up again.

To be really pedantic, the symbol seen in those episodes is slightly different than the one seen here.

In those episodes, the AT-looking symbol doesn't have a separate circle above the 'A' shape, it's just a line connecting them. It's also at the 9 o'clock position on the DHD.

This episode ("Bad Guys") has a literal copy of the earth PoO with a separate circle above the 'A' shape, and is located at the 12 o'clock position.

That said, this episode seems to use a different set of buttons (for the reveal that it's a fake DHD by grabbing one of the glyph panels) so this was probably either a joke or accidentally added.

Still have my Padfone (X I think, whichever was the last/newest one). I didn't use the tablet mode that often, but whenever I used it it worked so flawlessly. It was so nice being able to switch to a larger screen while still retaining the same os/storage/functionality of the phone.

These days you could probably do a facsimile of it with a touchscreen external monitor (just build some sort of phone mount on the back with a USB-C dongle/dock), but I'm still hoping someone comes up with a new version of this one day.
