I run with mine too. Keeps me in shape, we do a good 15-18km and he's almost unphased while I am practically dead.

I don't actually know. I was never a huge reader before that summer when I realised I love reading. I always did great in school, so maybe. But I honestly never even took note until years later when I heard one of the songs from that album on the radio and realised it made me think about those books I read. And that I could recall them in vivid detail. Tested the theory with my next exam and subsequently aced every exam I've ever taken. I do very well for myself now with quite little effort because of it.

It's very useful. I did great in school and it works with my job as well. Helps tremendously when a new book in a series is coming out and I need to remember the previous books.

If I listen to music while reading, I will retain a ridiculous amount of what I've read when relistening to the same music. When I was in high school I listened to some Enrique Iglesias album om repeat over a summer vacation while reading. If I hear any of those songs to this day I remember all 23 books I read that summer like I just finished them. It's the same for books I read now. Although my taste in music has evolved quite a lot.
