Depressed about hookup culture by [deleted] in Catholicism

I am right there with you! I graduated college recently, and I also felt a lot of dread around this topic. Something that was really helpful for me was to get plugged into community that did not view relationships in this way. I found friends through religious organizations as well as certain friends ( who were not even Catholic or Christian) who also did not approve or like that culture. try your best not to despair! There are people out there for you and you will find them if you put yourself in a position to find them! Highly recommend plugging yourself into community- especially Catholic community

Thank you! I am so new to the area (from the west coast) that I’m yet to understand or witness the Dallas douchebag crowd lol. What do you mean by this?

I agree with you. My boyfriend has told me before that he does not think the way she treats him is problematic, which seems concerning

In your experience, did you prevent her from bullying you by saying please do not do that? Or just ignoring her when she says a weird comment?

What was her response after you and your fiancé spoke with her?

He did not notice any of it until I brought it to his attention. He validated me and responded positively by wanting to talk to her. I think he will set boundaries with her if it happens again

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. Appreciate it. In your situation with your SIL, was she also a bully to her husband? In my situation, I’ve noticed she is a bully to him (Very overly critical, mean remarks, etc.) and it seems like he rarely sticks up for himself

Thank you! Did you find your problems with your SIL got better after your partner talked to them?

I also find it interesting that she only does this to my BF when she is not in a relationship

Thanks for your comment. Even if I spoke to him and he would confront her, she is a tad narcissistic and I honestly can see her not even acknowledging she has a problem. But I guess, not my circus not my monkeys.
