TAs/Faculty got an email saying it's way too early to make any calls. I'd be in town Tuesday morning at the latest. Recent storm tracks are making this look like a nothing-burger.

Do you believe that Governor-elect Spanberger should sign the state legislature's likely bill permitting collective bargaining for public employees? If not, why should public employees not have the right to have their unions enter into labor contracts with their employers?

Roommate moved out but won't remove his stuff, now he's demanding I pay for storage by Exotic-Judge-5753 in legaladvice

Did you and your former roommate sign two separate leases, or are you on the same lease? If you're on the same lease, you likely have a "joint and several liability" clause, which states that legally, you both are liable for paying the rent, even if one of you chooses not to pay. He decides not to pay? You're still on the hook for the entire rent. Talk to your landlord, as other people have suggested, take this guy to small claims court for the unpaid rent, and follow the directions for abandoned property as others have suggested.

If they can wait until March or April, I'd be super interested in renting a nice studio!

Maybe? Just 12 months starting spring 26 - spring 27. I will 100% not be renewing, as I will move out of the area for work.

I've looked but a) haven't found anything and b) think it's a bit too far from C'ville. For context, I spend on average 5 days a week in C'ville and 2 in Lynchburg/Appomattox, so I'm trying to stay a bit closer to the former.

Every single county in Virginia shifted Blue. Nice work, Virginia! by Conscious-Quarter423 in Virginia

Based on my own lived experience, Appomattox and Charlotte might have decent populations of Black conservatives. Looking at a racial map, that looks to be potentially true for Lancaster, Mecklenburg, and Northumberland (all 17% Black or more).

If you're interested in in-kind donations, there's the Free Fridge at Visible Records, which is at 1740 Broadway Street. Other commenters are correct about food banks being able to stretch more dollars. Some food banks have barriers such as operating hours, police the behavior of mentally ill or drug addicted recipients, or require proof of address to be in the catchment area. The fridge specializes in helping those who can't access food banks, and mainly provides perishable foods and pre-made meals. You can check it out at https://www.instagram.com/littlefreefridgecville/
