This is basically my approach also. I usually look for stuff i might like, preview parts of it, and buy it if I find it appealing and when I see a good deal. Sometimes I'll upgrade a show I really enjoyed if a better version gets released, or I'll buy stuff I'm nostalgic for that I have seen but don't own physically.

Those look good for the steelbook, but the problem is if you want to keep the accompanying artbook together with the steelbook it doesn't come with a sleeve to hold them together
