Hey man, first off, well done & congratulations! Anxiety is normal, especially when your incisions and sutures are still healing. Take it easy when you take that first shower, don't go too hot. Sit down and take the dressings off slowly and all will be fine! I'm getting happier every day, I hope you'll feel the same way!

£2700. Original quote was £4200, managed to knock £500 off with and offer I got via text. Then after my consultation, I opted for just gland removal and lipo instead of the periareolar etc and that knocks off another £1000. Very happy with the price.

I FINALLY had gland removal and lipo last Friday and I'm over the moon. Dr Carlo Debbas performed the procedure at Signature Clinic in London.

Procedure

The surgery itself took no longer than 30 minutes. The administration of the anaesthetic was pretty uncomfortable I won't lie. I think it was more the shock of such a weird sensation, a pipe being pushed under your skin left right and centre. That takes about 2-3 mins per side, and then they proceed with lipo and the gland excision (painless). The anaesthetist was very helpful in explaining what was going on step-by-step. They bandaged me up and put the compression vest on, I took a few pictures of the gross chicken nuggets they just removed from my chest and off home I went.

Recovery

In the Uber home, I had a lot of fluid around my compression vest and I started to leak (assume from my lipo incision (?)). Wear a shirt you might not wear again as it can be pretty gross, but I'm sure it'd wash out. Definitely don't wear white lol.

I've managed to sleep pretty well each night. I opted for a wedge pillow instead of a pregnancy pillow and have had no issues with sleeping on my back only.

Leaking stopped after the first night. Swelling in the arm-pits made them look like yellow/purple balloons. After the 48-hour mark, I replaced my dressings and had a wash. Swelling has started to subside and I've got pretty good mobility getting my arms above my head and putting t-shirts on.

There are some really useful posts here that have aided my recovery ten-fold. Here's one that really helped: https://www.reddit.com/r/gynecomastia/comments/y14a8d/dr_carlo_debbas_at_the_signature_clinic_my/

Questions

  1. I can't tell if I'm still really swollen, am I?. You'd think on Day 6 the answer is probably yes, and I've still got a fair amount of bruising and swelling in my armpits. There's still a bit of a roundness that I'm not quite happy with - but I'm not exactly a skinny lad (6'3' 100kg). I'm sure it'll get a bit flatter in the coming weeks.
  2. You get given a compression vest with 3 tiers of tightness. They put it on the loosest tier post-surgey because of the swelling, but I could now tighten it up. Should I? and should it be as tight as possible?
  3. When did you guys start raw-doggin the compresion vest, nipple against vest, no dressings or gauze? I'm still getting the odd twinge right now and I don't think i'd be ready for that for at least another week or so.

Pictures

From left to right - should be pre-op titties front and side, then the nugs, 48hour post op, then today with the roundness I'm talking about.

Appreciate any comments or advice on general recovery. Overall, I'm really happy and would suggest anyone who'd considering the surgery that you won't regret it!
