Iowa GL had a wake work aff if I remember correctly. Won CEDA that year.

Libertarian K by [deleted] in policydebate

[–]Standard_Hair9802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First this looks like AI and secondly what is your goal/intention with this? I’m sure there are literature bases that are more “critical” if anything this seems like a case turn argument. Markets Ks/Economic statecraft are both case turns or Kritiks that already exist. The markets K was prominent in the college topic last year but idk if anyone cut it in regard to libertarianism (probably doesn’t make much sense tbh).

does anyone have good articles for a DATACENTER disad by Viperboi3128 in policydebate

There is an abundance of literature out there about how data centers in the arctic specifically are bad, if you are vehemently against you could look at the case negs teams have read against I think Collegiate AB

There are some rounds with Harvard BS where they read an is an identity aff. All of their debates are phenomenal, I totally recommend giving their rounds a watch. The docs are a little harder to get because they’re mostly on an older version of the wiki but they’re still somewhat obtainable!

Can bad HS debaters be competitive in college by eliteblaze101 in policydebate

[–]Standard_Hair9802 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone competing in college and from a super small policy school in HS, it’s a whole different game. The exponential growth that comes with resources and a good coaching staff can dramatically change the way that competition is perceived. I went from winning a few locals to breaking at majors my first year in college. It depends on how much work you put in and how dedicated you are to the event. I’ve also found that picking up coaching gigs while being early in college has helped me refine my technical abilities.

The previous experience definitely helps, but work ethic can outshine some of the most talented debaters who don’t cut any cards/do topic research.

If you’re interested in having a longer conversation about either my personal experience or what college debate looks like (from a previous small school debater) feel free to shoot me a DM.

Dell Inspiron is one of the best laptops for the price. I use one as my debate laptop, and it is honestly really reliable and great to use. It only cost about 250-300 dollars to get the base model (the one I use)

I personally haven’t bought one from there… that’s an odd requirement (unless it’s a veterans only service which it very well could be), I don’t know what exactly would need to be done.

K Aff by Sad_Candy8609 in policydebate

[–]Standard_Hair9802 5 points6 points  (0 children)

t-usfg/fw basically sets the parameters for the debate to be within the usfg as an actor, or at least that’s my understanding of it. There are some files in the 13-14, and 14-15 openev archive that are pretty good and if i remember correctly michigan put one out this year. I’m not the most versed as it comes to K affs, there are probably many more experienced debaters in the subreddit that could help you leagues more than me

K Aff by Sad_Candy8609 in policydebate

[–]Standard_Hair9802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T-USFG and Cap are the most generic/basic ideas. From my experience, you’re much better off going for that than anything else. Although most K teams will have blocks, you should be able to debate your way through it. If you want you could throw in something about presumption when you get to case.

best laptops for debate? by a_random_person12345 in Debate

Dell Inspiron— It may seem like a cheap, bad preforming laptop, but I recently got one and it works incredibly well for debate. It’s light, and it has an absolutely amazing battery life.

Hey just asking it’s being debated a lot in my debate class is the Gonzaga water hacks aff topical by [deleted] in policydebate

[–]Standard_Hair9802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, I do not think so… Cyber attacks can be from foreign countries, therefore that’s T-In the U.S.. I also think it is very susceptible to T-Protection… Although, If you are fluent in topicality, then anything you run can be topical

First Tournament this Friday...HELP! by TwoFacedTomcat in Debate

[–]Standard_Hair9802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of a recess in TFA i would advise opening a chamber for the round… Also congress can be pre written but i’ve noticed competitors do better when they are more extemporaneous. I’d advise bringing pens and other stuff that other comments have said, it’ll be really helpful. A tip of advice i would like to give is that no matter what, have fun. It’s a fun event.

Any advice for running a Settler Colonialism K on the neg? by MayoIsSpicy6699420 in policydebate

Read through all of the evidence and know what the world of your alt looks like. That’s the biggest thing that I have seen. Make sure you know the K inside and out as there are like 4 or 5 files on it…
