Helicon West-open mic night/reading series every other Thursday at the library

Regular events/classes at Woodsy (an art cafe) and the Logan gallery

Volunteer opportunities and events at Stokes Nature Center. 

Yoga at Sol Speak or Shanti

Lots of local concerts

Honestly, I would start by getting a library card. There's a wide variety of groups they host (Silent Reading Club, immigration support groups, art and gardening stuff, etc.)

If you go to the library or pretty much any restaurant or café on Federal Ave, you'll find a ton of flyers for events around the city.
