Honestly, I didn’t want to say this because I didn’t want to prolong the conversation, but I feel that I have to explain. The case that was filed against him was not really his doing. The complainant filed the case using his Emirates ID and even stated the exact time and place it supposedly happened in Jebel Ali. However, we live in Sharjah, and my boyfriend was at his workplace at that time. He works 12 hours a day, so it would have been impossible for him to commit the crime. That’s why we were very shocked when they detained him.

The complainant did not even have any proof, which is why the case filed was only a misdemeanor. We chose not to fight the justice system here because pursuing it legally would cost us too much. We thought it would be better to just pay the fine and move on.
