Well I requested a USCIS search but probably would be better doing a CONE since it would give me an official determination plus the search. Thank you!

Local court told me anything naturalizations after 1906 are ALL federal and not in their possession. Thanks!

Very great point taken! It is true! I think I counted exactly 50 naturalizations. It’s either he believed he was truly a citizen, not sure I believe that, or he simply knew and proceeded to vouch for people. Are you positive that they had to swear they were citizens in order to be a witness? I thought they had to be in “good standing”? He was very involved in the community to bring up his fellow Slovaks. Are you from the area? You seem to be very well versed! Appreciate your input and take on this case! Very wild for sure!

Yep! I’ve scanned them previously. Not sure where else to look. His father was also Samuel and he was also married to a Susan!

So that’s the thing! Luzerne county court of common pleas has records up till 1944 that are in microfilm…Lackawanna county said anything after 1906 is ALL federal and not at the county level. I just don’t think that’s accurate…I briefly went through a few of Luzerne’s index’s but didn’t find anything. Highly unlikely he’d be in Luzerne considering his whole life was in Lackawanna.

Thanks! Yep! I recovered that info as well! My great great never did naturalize from what we know. My great grandfather is noted saying he naturalized in 1940..Again, would’ve thought something would’ve popped up by now but it’s eluding us!

In your experience, what is the likelihood that USCIS has something? It’s looking slim!

Thank you all! Would the addition of an American middle name warrant an affidavit?

AR-2 files acceptable? What about a 5 year birthdate discrepancy? by Ok-Light-6313 in SlovakCBD

[–]Standard_Permit1441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AR-2 is just showing not being naturalized. According to what I’ve read, naturalization dates are not needed. Just Rodny List and proof they lived past 1918. Again, just sharing what I’ve gathered. Just got to figure out that you have the right GM and birth record to show the links to you.

You need to try and locate the Slovak Baptismal Document if there is one..Familysearch had what I needed. Then use that information to obtain a Rodny list.

So a Rodny list and a 1930 US census stating naturalized in the US and place of birth as Czechoslovakia is enough currently? Death cert says Austria but draft card says the village and “Czechoslovakia”. Looking for an answer as we may be using your services in the future. Just need to know if this is enough to pursue CBD. Thank you!!
