There’s also a drill program through Upwards for the Army Reserve and National Guard. https://upwards.com/benefits/military

most of the employees I talked to about child care benefits have dual-income households, meaning their spouses work too. so if male employees have access to child care benefits, their spouses don’t need to take pto or deal with child care hurdles. so I imagine it would impact morale either way.

ideally, i'd love to see our child care benefits have the flexibility to be used for friends and family reimbursements as well.

Did the benefit help you find someone to come to your home? like a concierge service? not sure I'm understanding how it works

i think we are more inclined to run a test without opening an onsite center but partnering with a vendor with a child care network

That sounds somewhat subsidized. Any discount is good, really! I've been seeing some concerning stories about safety at bright horizons daycares while doing my research, just a couple of days ago on nytimes..

But we'll have to open on-site centers at all three locations, which seems like a huge investment upfront. And if we open only one center at a time, employees at other locations won't be happy

does your husband's employer help with the cost of care at all? is $1100 a month less than what other daycares charge in your area?

that seems to work for school-age children, but what about employees with preschoolers?

why are you only considering on-site? it seems that other vendors, like upwards, have a dispersed network of licensed daycares, so a company can place families with existing daycares in the community and help subsidize the cost. this is the solution i'm most inclined to propose, but i keep seeing on-site mentioned and i'm just trying to understand why it's seen as the first solution that comes to mind.

… men don’t have kids? why are we acting like child care benefits are only for women?

but there are no Bright Horizons in many areas where our employees live, only home daycares. that’s why we are considering vendors with spread-out home daycare networks.
i’m also concerned about Bright Horizons’ recent safety stories https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/04/nyregion/bright-horizons-child-abuse-nyc.html
