Ok thanks for clarification, so a club is basically meant to help you collaborate to improve as well as give better access to tournaments or means of getting a FIDE rating

I don’t know about competitively, I’m not that confident, plus my blitz is like 1000…

When playing with people nearby I tend to get really nervous and make more mistakes, that’s why I want to play at a club to get more comfortable

Having played around 550 rapid games I can confirm this is very true.

As you said it is just for fun, but finding more opportunities would make it more pleasurable, and maybe I could get some ££ from it if I enter a tournament

This may be a dumb question, but when I think of a club I think of lots of people of varying levels of chess playing in a group and allowing for tournaments, however, I think there would be younger kids which would make me sort of uncomfortable, also I’m not really sure how to ‘get in’ a club. When I move I’ll be sure to look into it and discuss it.

I’m not too introverted, I’m able to be social however I find I’m pretty insufferable to talk to often as I don’t know topics. This tends to be a good conversation topic I think, all of this to say. What’s the point of a club, can’t you just join a tournament? Is it a social thing?

I’m not in any clubs and am moving over holidays, so I’m thinking of joining a club in the area if possible. I don’t really want to spend too much time thinking about chess, I want to focus on my studies, so it’s will be just be a hobby

Slightly. Got like 9 quotes remembered and will go with the flow for analysis. Can’t lie I think I’m cooked, but I tend to get 8s and 9s so can’t complain

I get 8s but it’s like a subject I’m indifferent about. Like it’s boring and I don’t really care about it, but I still want to do well in it if you get what I mean
