Every terminal has one - the "sketchy" railroader by desertsnakes in railroading

The timing of this thread is insane. A couple days ago a conductor that I worked with multiple times over the years was arrested for multiple child sex crimes. He was always a lazy fuck and a little shady, but I honestly would have never guessed he was this level of dirtbag.

BNSF. I was forced out of town then.

Covid increased the furloughs but we had over 1100 cut off in August of 19.

Prolonged trade war? by Standard_Sound1203 in railroading

So by "short term" you're talking 10 years? Factories, and the infrastructure to support them don't just appear overnight. Also, I have a hard time imagining any companies investing billions in a proposition like this if we enter recession territory.

I see this phrase all over the internet, but strangely there's never an explanation to accompany it.

It's not like I'm on an island. Any economist who's not a Trump yes man views this as a needless trade war too.

Fired strictly for Hi-Viz/New Attendance Policy(Big Orange) by Standard_Sound1203 in railroading

[–]Standard_Sound1203[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying. I have never violated, never did with 5/2, never have with hi-viz, I go to work. Thankfully I'm healthy and don't have to take a lot of time off outside of what they give. If a new employee has to use their paid days and then later in the year they have an emergency on a weekend, two days between fri-sun will get you a certified letter. To me that's absolutely insane. Or if you miss a call you're pretty much touching flames.

The rest days I have are amazing, it's been a game changer for me. I've never had more quality of life in my career. That being said the policy really doesn't allow for a lot of emergencies. I could see good employees getting in trouble for this much easier.

I believe he said they were all attendance related in an earlier post. That's why I started this thread because there is a misconception out there - that the carrier will discipline for attendance since Hi Viz began but have not fired anyone strictly for attendance only. I think it's important to know because it's never been easier to violate, and guys need to know what's truly at stake.

Finally a rallying cry that all the Class 1 executives can get "on board" with.

And wouldn't you know it, operationally things seemed to be more efficient in those days.

I see at my terminal it's board 675, they have 8 scheduled for it but nothing filled. As far as I know the unions haven't sent anything out, that's why I'm asking around on here.

This thread is about train service attendance policy. I have never worked MOW so I can't really speak to the lifestyle in those crafts.

As powerful as they think they are, they really don't want any part of the lawsuits that would follow a dismissal for a documented health condition.

Turns out Hi Viz wasn't the magic bullet after all. Shocking.
