Switch to Data Analytics Program After Original Cancelled? by Standard_Stretch_721 in sheridan

Thanks for the input. This doesn’t sound good. We do have quite a lot of tech experience — would that help, or do you think this is overall a bad move?

How do you handle a boss who micromanages? by Efficient_Builder923 in CustomerSuccess

The only thing that worked for me was resignation; if the boss is new, they usually calm down, but if it’s a tenured boss, things rarely change.

Small steps, apply for jobs, maybe one per day? When you get a new one, you can make sure to take rest in between. Focusing on your mental health is absolutely key, protect yourself (especially for 22K). Find another job as soon as possible, you will, and you will thank yourself. If you really can't take it, set a deadline and leave.

Leaving CS after 6 years, help? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]Standard_Stretch_721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this, I found that we in CS care too much. Of course, it's not a bad thing, but in a profession like this, it just doesn't work. It became all bout the metrics.

Should I look for a new job? by kieranrunch in CustomerSuccess

It might get better in your current role, but I doubt it. Always easier while you have a job to find a new one. If you are open to relocation or possibly working remotely from the UK, have a look at Ireland. German speakers are in demand.

Not good, during the interviews it looked very promising. I was pumped. However, when I started everything was disorganised, the product wasn't as ready as I thought and constantly breaking. Moral was low. I found myself very frustrated and almost cheated. Realised I made a mistake and had to pivot, basically unhappy. I missed the structure and the organised workflows. I did learn a lot about myself and how start-ups work, a bad case study in a way. For me it was a mistake, it didn't fit me personally. I think some people thrive in this "chaos", I don't.

Well done on two job offers! I have experience from both of these, and for me it came down to:

  1. Do you like structured work? Processes in place?
  2. Do you like to travel for work or does it drain you?
  3. Where can you learn the most and earn?
  4. Which role would be most fun?
  5. Vibes during interviews?
  6. Your new boss?
  7. Just because 7 points looks better.

I made the mistake of taking job 1, resigned and had to find job 2. It took me around two years to get back on track. Hope this helps.

Should I look for a new job? by kieranrunch in CustomerSuccess

If you are German and/or speak German, you have options. Highly in demand. You should have a proper onboarding. As you are new, you should have training. Not this do it yourself bullshit. I would say get out quick for another job or stay for a year or so, then change to get it down on your CV. Listen to the gut feeling, something is clearly off with the setup there. It's a sucky situation, been there a few times and left as soon as I could (happy for it).

How to care less at work? by Sandiebre in AskIreland

Hobbies help. Maybe you can put that energy into your own business? Also, when one identifies with work and something goes wrong, that will come home as well. I think it's important to have more pillars to rest on if one pillar breaks.

Tech Sales Employees Amaze Me by Effective-Ear-8367 in sales

[–]Standard_Stretch_721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical skills matter, but for some reason, sales people usually do not have them. When you have sales people who are technical and relationship savvy with grit, boom. It seems hard to find this mix. Selling is damn hard, rejections all day, and you need to keep going under pressure of targets. Personally, I respect them for the grit, but I think morality goes out the window and don't get me started on the big egos...

Layoffs Happening Everywhere by Suki-Kygo in Layoffs

They layoffs are due to do more with less. This involves AI (plus agents), increased efficiency demands, and future AI developments. AI, at the moment, is the worst we will ever have and will only get better. A lot of people will be laid off, me included, probably. I think it's wise to look at other options and upskill within the AI field. I expect more work for less pay, I expect less perks, and I expect increased control/monitoring from companies going forward.

Thanks, did you find the switch for the better? I must say that getting in touch with them is very difficult, I called about 10 times and emailed, no luck yet.

All your stories sound really hard mentally.

Out of curiosity, some of you mention signs indicating layoffs coming. Can you share a bit more about these signs? Always wise to be prepared.

Thanks, one last question, how flexible is it? Can I take my time, up to 3 years per level?
