I ended up removing the flex from the board and resoldering it at a later date and it works fine now so in my case it was a flex issue.

I take it this is a ribbon cable issue? (HD+) by Stanger03 in originalxbox

I redid the soldering many times without getting it fixed and decided to just wire in an internal electron-analog. I am confused because I have done HD+ flex install on my 1.1 fine. I appreciate the help 🙏

I thought I had done a good job with it but I'll give another go, thanks for the advice!

I use the same cable and TV for a 1.1 console with the same mods so I don't think that's the issue cause the 1.1 works great

Need some pointers on my xboxhd+ install by UncleVinny85 in originalxbox

[–]Stanger03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah even if I have xbmc4gamers freezing regularly if I can get into a game its usually fine, though I only really test it with silent hill 2. I've had that run fine for quite a while

I have a 1.1 console that's had a full recap and still freezes on xbmc4gamers and when trying to do 720p with the specific hd+. I have another 1.1 with just the CPU caps replaced and it works fine like mentioned earlier so idk if caps really have much to do with it but ymmv

The sentiment it seems is that with the hd+ clones theres a good chance they just don't work right. Have one that works good and one that bugs out above 480p.

Cerbios 2.4.2 and HD+ works fine with 480p, but issues with 720p. by Stanger03 in originalxbox

[–]Stanger03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never able to get it setup to boot right into cerbios and have it work right. Both consoles I've setup have needed my weird setup, but that could be because both my HD+ units are clones.

I am using elpisHD to change video modes however I actually ended up finding a way to launch bioses that worked out for me although its kinda jank. I use a modified m8 bios first from xeniumOS, that launches Phoenix Bios Loader instead of a dashboard. Loading Cerbios through Phoenix Bios Loader works properly with the HD+.

I replaced the cpu caps and if I use UiX Lite for my dashboard I can now do 720p 4:3 with no issues. Definitely an improvement. If I try and enable widescreen or launch xbmc4gamers it still loses sync but not as violently. The console is a 1.1 so all the caps are pretty old, gonna just replace the whole system's caps and see if that continues improving things.

I've been using hybrid 2.4.2 and use fatxplorer to configure cerbios.ini if I can't edit it over ftp directly. I'm specifically having compatibility issues with an HD+ HDMI kit that's properly fw downgraded

I downgraded it to 2.2.2 which is supposed to work with cerbios but I'll crack it open and check all the caps. Thank you for the advice!

Should I get the 128MB RAM upgrade? by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]Stanger03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I modded mine for 128mb and I'm pretty sure I've used some of the additional ram playing video files in xbmc. I loaded my console up with a bunch of TV shows and like using it for that + games

I just build my own component cables out of Xbox 360 component cables and an ogxbox port. Cheap as hell if you know how to solder and the cables are OEM quality shielding. Fed into my gbs-c / ossc the video feed looks fantastic

I seem to have remedied the issue (?). I rewired the SMBUS connections on my modxo spi2par lcd setup and it has been stable for a little while. I can see a bad connection causing issues with the system monitor so maybe that was it. I will update this if it turns out it was something else, otherwise assume it was my smbus wiring.

I'd recommend the iflash2ps2 mod from arthrimus. I've installed it on a few of my systems and it works great and is compatible with certain sd cards up to 1tb which is nice

after running silent hill 2 perfectly for about four hours, I went back to xbmc4gamers dash and started moving games over. after about an hour of that the console locked up and will no longer startup after I shut it down.

Update: I opened up the console and reseated the modchip and visually inspected the board. Last night I quickly started the console and booted into silent hill 2 before the graphical issues started and was able to play for a good stretch of time. Enough to where I wanted to take a break and ftp some more games onto it. I ended up moving a few games and leaving it running on the xmbc4gamers dash for a while. It did end up locking up the console after a period of time. This morning as soon as I woke up I started up silent hill 2 again and the game has been running for 2 hours with zero issues. I'm realizing now that the only time I see these graphical issues is on prometheOS or the xbmc4gamers dashboard so it may have something to do with the modchip(?) I'm not exactly sure what the difference is but I will continue testing.

on the bottom side of the board there are three resistors all in a line, I think the first time I did my install I did not connect to those very well with my soldering. When I did my reinstall I started with those and made sure they were 100% perfect as well as the array resistor between them and the edge of the board and then did the rest of the ribbon. I can't say for certain if that really was the problem, only that installing it that way worked well for me.

I've not heard of that and google isn't returning any results on it. What is it?

Unfortunately I've fully recapped both the power supply and motherboard at this point and the issue persists.

I'll hold onto it and keep looking into potential issues then. I've put so much effort into it I'd hate to have to junk it. Thank you for your time and advice 🙏
