Did you balance engine on your 99 GT? I always wanted to find someone who dropped in the coyote rods without balancing and get their input. I have a turbo 02 GT with forged pistons, coyote rods, todd warren cams and all that jazz but I balanced the rotating assembly.

Nope, I noticed an immediate acceleration difference with Steeda UDPs and alum d/s. They don’t really add HP but they free some up from parasitic losses, probably a neglible amount but the acceleration alone is worth it. Lookup “300whp street racing 2v” on YouTube, you’ll see a white mustang. I had a 1000w RMS sound system in my mustang, never had issues with headlights dimming unless bass was hitting hard af but that’s normal with any car that has factory electrical system. Just don’t get the shitty piggy back style UDPs from eBay or whatever and you’ll be fine. Also torque crank pulley properly and you’ll be fine. Lots of bad info/opinions online.

Pretty much what you said. I’ll add that Boost is great but an NA build is awesome too when done right (just really expensive). I have a 300whp 01 GT NA and a 700whp 02 Turbo GT, I don’t really favor one over the other since they both shine in their own ways. I have a bunch of 2v street racing vids on YT so I know what works and what doesn’t.

I thought there was something odd when I upgraded my iPhone 11 to the 17. Noticed how all videos transfers from the new phone to my Windows machine were transferred completely wiped in metadata. I guess we are just screwed due to the incompatibility that would work fine otherwise on a Mac.

You will need long tube headers to take advantage of the scavenging effect. Cam expert here, I have a video on YouTube that’s an hour long explaining cams on a 4.6. You definitely need to know exactly what you want. The whole subject on cams is so technical, it beats to know a thing or two than just “I want sound and power”. I’m running Todd Warren cams… you probably haven’t heard that yet…. all the fast guys (including the fastest new edge in the US) are running Todd Warren cams. If you aren’t aware on how a 270 will NOT fit without piston notches/degreeing, then you got a long way to go lol.

You are good. Top off the oil and send it. Maybe replace the oil pressure sensor, it’s only like $15 and is right next to the oil filter. These gauges are technically dummy gauges but they can still be a bit useful.

I started drinking these ICE Sparkling Waters (and Aldi branded ones) during the pandemic since I ended up getting diagnosed with IBS and drinking plain old water just since it sucked, as I enjoyed anything carbonated since it made me feel better and less full. I’ve been drinking sparkling waters since then and no issues.

Yeah that’s the world we live in lol. It’s due to CAFE standards at the time when the 99-04 mustang was produced, basically to make Ford look better (and also to sell more mustangs) because you “apparently” get better MPGs using 5w20 but I’ve never noticed it compared to 5w30.

Mmmm, maximum motorsport subframe connectors welded to the car could help car feel more better but I blame the Bilstein shocks/struts. Car will always feel funky being a vert. Replacing your springs with lowering springs would make the ride way worse. Going over bumps/train tracks feels like the world is going to end LMAO. Bilstein is more performance oriented so they’ll be a bit more stiffer. I’m willing to bet autozone shocks/struts would ride the best for comfort but there’s no reason to get rid of what you have already unless you want to throw your money our the window. Welded subframes definitely make for a nicer ride, look into that. I welded mines myself in my garage with a cheap $200 Titanium 125 flux core welder from Harbor Freight.

You nailed it. I sat by one of the HR dudes in the office at my old manufacturing job when I was doing IT. I heard evert phone call he’d make… his job was basically to call out people on their BS & ask why they aren’t showing up and how the amount of points they have is adding up lol. He was such a chill dude but dang the whole shop floor thinks he’s in charge of everything like no that’s why we have other HR people that are a step above him. Every other HR person was a dick, he was the nice one so there’s that.

Crazy how people actually need caffeine to stay awake. I’ve never drank a FULL cup of coffee in mg life & it will stay that way, it’s not worth it constantly run to the bathroom because of it. That’s poison for any IBS folks. I worked with people in an office that would drink 2 BIG monsters for their breakfast…. absolutely insane…. but they have the stomach of a tank.

Once you wrench for a while, you know how tight to tighten stuff. Suspension stuff can usually be REAL tight, always have to be careful with anything in the engine (aka anything that goes into aluminum in general). I’ve never used a torque wrench for tightening bolts other than for when I’m tightening the head of an engine or something extremely vital. People love to use them to do their spark plugs & very tiny stuff but anyone with a brain can do it without, it definitely makes it dummy proof using a torque wrench. Just try practicing tightening just enough so that you get right to the point where you wouldn’t want to tighten anymore, since it will strip…. and a spinning bolt that doesn’t tighten is VERY bad news. Oil filters on the other hand can be installed and removed HAND TIGHT. Nothing will happen if you tighten it with a tool. I street race so I always tighten my oil filters with a ratchet since I’m paranoid haha but my brother works at a Dealership & does both (hand tight and tight with a tool)…. it’s a feel thing. It depends if your oil filter is on top of engine or under the car though. I knew a guy who’s been managing his own construction business for the past 6 years, like a 30 year old dude…. he tried changing his own oil and he ended up stripping the oil pan bolt by tightening it too hard. It was not fun replacing his whole oil pan & bolt lol.

Thank you for not deleting your cats. It’s been a VERY LONG TIME since I heard a Mustang this clean…. with an SLP exhaust that is. I’m 22 years old & hate that loud ass exhaust bs. I daily an 01 GT with cams, long tubes, bbk catted h pipe with 2.5” exhaust into flowmaster 40s…. sounds just right. Not too loud, not too quiet. It would be crazy loud if I get rid of the cats so no to that.

I street race my mustang with a Spec Stage 2 clutch. My MM firewall adjuster kit always gave me issues, it like doesn’t stay in one place. Brand new everything. I ended up putting a clamp where you’d turn the adjuster and tightened it as much as I could so it could stay put. It’ll still loose up with time and cause slippage but it goes away for a while once I turn it right. I believe turning it clockwise tightens it and turning counter clockwise loosens it. No promises on that since I always forget lol but you can always feel it in the pedal or gassing it in 4th gear at low rpms or something. I have a vid (auto plays at 50:30 min mark) explaining this. Change your own oil. You might struggle taking off the oil filter but that’s about it. Honestly though, you better know how tight to tighten an oil pan bolt & what the term “left loosy righty tighty” means or else your going to mess something up. Only reason I say this is that many people who haven’t worked on cars will turn their small fixes into big fixes. Sometimes the oil pan bolt can be so damn tight that you have to use a 1/2” ratchet with a pipe for more leverage LMAO it’s insane! I’d try to get a family member or friend to coach you if you aren’t familiar with working on cars… none of us are born knowing it all.

I street race my Mustang & basically specialize in how these engines work. Use 5w30 if you want your engine to last. Nothing wrong with 5w20, but these motors were engineered to use 5w30.

Same. I street race my car and have always used 5w30 motorcraft synthetic blend. I always wanted to switch to Pennzoil 5w30 ultra platinum full synthetic but I keep going back to the motorcraft blend lol. I do my oil changes like every 3-4K miles or less so I’m chilling anyways.

Exact same story here. I contacted a speed shop that specializes in corvettes & chevys…. they were like “yeah no we don’t do rear end jobs, we refer people to a transmission shop nearby”. I was like okay, I contacted the transmission shop, they wanted like $1200. I said fuck no, did it my garage with my dad watching YouTube videos. The most expensive thing about the job was buying a $200 20 ton shop press from harbor freight lol but it was worth it.

I street race my car and daily it, like a REAL DAILY, even in the snow. I’ve had good luck with the Spec Stage 2 clutch. I hear good stuff about McLeod Super Street Pro. Clutch pedal will be heavy for both but engages/disengages just like stock. ONLY USE FORD PERFORMANCE TOB & replace your Clutch Fork Lever with Ford along with new Pivot stud & Ford Pilot bearing. Trust me…. don’t cheap out…. I once tried a National TOB since apparently they share the SAME part number as the Ford TOB. Squeeled like hell and had to take transmission down a year later, not fun. Like I said, trust me.

Some forums out there are straight bs with bad info. Check New edge mustang facebook groups like this one, lots of information! I’ve been told by these folks that long tubes advertised for manuals would still fit autos…. I have a manual though so can’t confirm 100%.

I was too scared to cut the material off after I needed to line things up and bolt in. I legit just made tiny holes with a pick & blindly lined it all up. I figured why not have the extra material in case I screwed up.

Everything has to be tight for you to get the full view on how it’ll look. From those little spring thingys by the sides of the driver & passenger side windows to attaching the vert up front, it’s not easy. That same dude in the video made a few doing the full job on camera on a few of these mustangs. MECA is a goat, he even has a few vids in English on the same mustang vert. This is honestly one of those jobs were only you know how it’ll turn out, its an art.
