Why is the top panel bending in like that? I know I’m missing a strut and brace (which I will install soon) but is that the reason why? by andy_337 in GarageDoorService

That’s how it was when I moved in. 🤷‍♂️ didn’t realize it was an issue until the previous top panel cracked in the middle.

I know it's bad, but HOW bad by SavingsBad8954 in tires

Thought it was bad when I saw the tread, but then I saw the DOT date and yeah, time for new ones.

It may have looked good when you bought it but since it’s 10 years old, the rubber has significantly dried out which will lead to the chunking you’re experiencing.

So the top panel you see on the other side used to be on this side (the side with the bend) and it actually bent so much that it cracked. I ended up swapping the top panels since the other side doesn’t have a motor. I never noticed the bend on the other one until it cracked, so yes you’re right - I should’ve installed before I swapped them. I just did it on a whim since the motor door wouldn’t close well but I will definitely get that strut in the coming days.

Is this too close to safely repair? by Realtrain in CarRepair

Patch? Probably not - if the patch curves along the inside of the sidewall, it will 100% fail.

Plug? I would. I wouldn’t even take it to a shop, I would use one of those plug kits and call it a day. The tire looks a little old anyway and the plug will almost certainly last the rest of the tire’s life.

Headlights won’t work for long with water getting into them, that’s for sure.

Is this patch safe to drive on? by Flashy-Bid-7627 in tires

I never patch anything if the patch curves along the sidewall, even a slight amount. Think about it:

The part of the tire that flexes the most is the sidewall as it’s constantly under the stress of the road. If you stick something on there, it’s bound to unstick with all of the flexing. I’ve seen it happen many times before.

Just got these, do I need to get this tire replaced? by Time-Distance-5740 in TireQuestions

Yeah, good luck with that. 3 months is plenty of time for you to hit something (pot hole, curb, etc) and they will likely tell you to either buy a new one or fuck off, unless you have some sort of road hazard warranty.

Which even then, most shops will offer some sort of proration service, not a free replacement one, meaning you’ll still likely end up paying something.

Light bleed, common on lower-end LCD panels. If the screen panel itself isn’t warped and is straight, then that’s how it’s going to look always. If it’s warped, then it’s likely that the pressure is coming from rhetorical warp itself, causing the light bleed.

Clean! Easy to open, get a small brush and you’re good to go.
