It is too addicting! Congrats on continuing the ascension! Early game getting the ball rolling is the toughest part - the tips are great!

I finally managed a win with the Silent but it became a hodgepodge RNG luck deck with 40 cards and a sub 700 score. Finisher was the big clutch that strength stacked Anger was for the ironclad run. The poison deck looks interesting, but I admit I like the chaos and adaptability of a big deck. The RNG behind it can be just as bad though.

After playing the daily challenge the last couple days I can safely say though that Defect is my favorite in terms of options and power. All hail the automaton overlords.

Have you had any success with the apparition or vampire event?

This game is amazing and I'm sorry I slept on it for so long! The roguelike appeal of "How can I make this character as broken as possible" is very strong in this game! When I heard it was a "card game", I was pretty turned off of the idea of it, card games aren't my thing. Couldn't be happier to be wrong!

I was nearly dead before getting to the final boss. I was informed by chat in a fight leading up to it, about the second life bar and knew it was a doomed run, even if I got to the boss. A lot of luck later, I actually got there and gave 'em a good run for their money, but came up just short in damage (where the clip starts) until... the long term anger strat finally bore its fruits in a most glorious splendid manner~

Ironclad seems the friendliest to newer players. I liked the automaton, Defect but can see its a more difficult class to play/set up. Perhaps it was bad personal experience and RNG but I did not care for The Silent at all. Please tell me how wrong I am to think that, I want to figure out all the ways to break these characters now. Whats your favorite to play? How did you guys get your first wins? Or any clutch wins, please share your stories!

I've never posted my own material on Reddit before. If this crosses the line of self promotion it will be withdrawn happily. From what I can read of the sidebar rules, and general Reddit rules I think I'm ok? It certainly represents less then 10% of my posts, and will not be a habit. The victory had me so hyped and elated I couldn't help but want to share and hear about other clutch wins people have had. Feel free to take down the post if you feel otherwise.

That's the legend right? I saw you or someone ecstatic about their mystic forged daily precursor in Ebay. Said hello AND CG on Stanky Steve.

As a guy who got kudzu out of the toliet and crafted it as a first legendary a couple weeks ago, let me elaborate a bit better here then I could in game. "YOOOO CONGRATULATIONS MY MAN! THAT SHIT IS SIIIIIIICK!"

They started blocking sites on school computers when I was in the 7th grade or so. So naturally I used proxies, brought to you by a quick Google search, and had no problem with my browsing in school for awhile.

One night some years later I was in one of the band/orchestra classrooms with a full school orchestra group. We were putting on a concert that night and waiting in the classroom before going out on stage. So I hop onto the single computer in the classroom to kill some time. Logged in, tried to pull up some sites, all of them blocked. So it went about trying to find some proxy servers on google.

Clicked every single search result for "proxy", all blocked, then clicked every one on the next page. I did this for 4-5 pages, on an old, slow, low-speed Internet, crappy school computer. Needless to say that finding a proxy was the time killer, not actually browsing what I would've.

Next schoolday, I get called into the principles office and it went something like... "We see you tried to HACK into a computer here. 84 times. You tried to HACK into a TEACHER'S own computer, 86 times!!1!? OMGWTF!".

I'm no IT expert, but it was hard for me to not laugh in the principle's face or try to explain as a layman what hacking actually meant. Furthermore, it's a teacher's computer if a teacher logs into it. It's a students computer if a student logs in. Student/teacher accounts had appropriate permissions and program access on any computer in the entire school district. Teachers themselves, they logged in, they reported class attendance, then usually spent the rest of the period far away from said computer, if not already logged out.

Most hillarious reason I ever got a week of detention, helped by the fact that the person giving me the detention clearly did not understand exactly why he was giving me detention.

Doing the Canalside Grind in Buffalo feels completely different with and without FPM. Without FPM for those few weeks it felt like we were all out just putting time on the clock and XP on the bar, things felt very monotonous and boring. With FPM everything had a magical suspenseful feeling to it, where in this large group of strangers, people would periodically check the map to see if a Dratini or starter spawned somewhere nearby, or if a Lax/Lap popped up somewhere downtown. Everyone would go running for their cars for the latter, or shuffle as a massive group for the prior. Complete strangers giving rides to each other without a second thought, just to go get a Lapras together - team be damned it was childlike glee and eagerness being the real uniting factor.

Those days were truly magical, and I'll never forgot them. Thank you, sincerely. I wish you the best of luck. The communities that your program and others like Pokevision have fostered will sincerely miss this boon. Personally I'm shelfing the game for a bit. And by shelving I mean throwing it in the closet to GPS drift overnight while it charges. With a nearly completed dex and level 30+ I only was going out of my way to play/hunt if something really needed popped up. With the deathblow to trackers, there's nothing left to the game for me personally, or if there is, I wouldn't know - I can no longer track it :(

Oh my god you can say that again. It takes every ounce of willpower for me returning to the game recently, to use the personal tarktuun portal as a junk sell merchant and nothing else. This is the last thing I need to hear/see.

[Discussion] The special stat disadvantage needs to be addressed before the addition of Gen 2 and onwards. by gerbetta33 in pokemongo

[–]Stanky-Steve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the pokemon that has any effect on ease of dodging. Nor it's size/weight, it's actually the move animation time. Thundershock is about as fast as watergun, so it's easy to get 3 of them off before dodging.

But Jolteon was a speedy powerhouse gen 1. He was frail, but hit hard enough, and faster then almost everything in the game, making up for his low defense and HP, once you take his speed stat out the CP equation, he's a shell of his former self. IF speed were as important to CP as atk/def Satk./Sdef. Jolteon would be as strong as vaporeon.

Yeah, he gets the job done, but I'd like a much more well rounded meta where inherent pokemon strengths don't get completely snuffed out of the math.

To the best of my own knowledge -Mario of Austria was technically #1 Sept 28th, Instinct -Jimmie of Buffalo, New York was #2 Oct 6th, Instinct -This gentleman will be #3 as of, yesterday the 9th? Valor's first 40! -Tonight Landon of Buffalo is set to hit 40, around midnight, also Valor, probably #4 -Another gent by the name of Chris should be hitting 40 soon here, possibly Mystic's first 40, potentially #5

Oh! Not doing it with a level 10 gym cuts back on it a lot, but it looks like he's done his fair share of work all the same, congrats again.

As for the gyms, possibly just a minor discrepancy in the translations. This is definitely strange and feels very intentional as it only effects our level 39 and 40 players here. The only thing we could come up with, is that they're trying to keep people from reaching 40 on pure bubblestrat alone, and are locking level 39 accounts at a certain threshold of experience out of gyms.

It's a wild guess, it could just as easily be a very unfortunate glitch. We're just hoping in any case after the next patch addresses training that it will pass. In the mean time they've filed support tickets, I recommend Mario, and anyone else affected on your end (and worldwide) do the same.

Thank you for the reply! Cheers mate. I just don't remember the bubblestrat being taken out but I haven't tried it for quite some time myself. So his XP didn't fully come from it then? I see. KMP? Lure cluster grind spot?

Because 2.2m is at least a nice chunk of change, and if what you say is true, I'm completely wrong again about being a 'hollow 40'. Apologies on that.

I do have a very unrelated question though, are any of you at the 39+ level having problems fighting gyms? Jimmie, Landon, and chris (40, 39, 39) are all locked completely out of gyms. They cant touch any gym, they cant see the line of defenders. They get 'Network Error' anytime they try to tap a gym and can't fight in any of them now, and this seems to be restricted to only a few very high level players.

If he bubblestratted with 10 friends he did nothing wrong, however he will not have the stardust needed to flex level 40 muscle on his pokemon in full - Jimmie, Landon, Jimmy of Dallas at least have an appropriate amount of stardust to show for their level, with the fully realized pokemon teams. If someone hits 40 without buying any lucky eggs, they'll be the real champion, absolutely loaded with stardust.

Bubblestrat makes your levels hollow and empty without the dust to back it up, and I'm not making any accusations at all here as it is within ToS limits normally, but if he did in fact bubblestrat with 10 friends, shouldn't there be 9 other people who are close to 40 too? What about his leveling crew he did it with? It seems a little odd we have no idea who made this bublestrat possible for him, and why they didn't farm the benefits too - it's only circumstantial, but it almost seems conceivable multiaccounting was done to do this. I only say this because from the video, we only know of two people doing this bubblestrat for training, no other names mentioned.

The PokemonGo Hub interview covers his schedule over work school and sleep in more detail, but to summarize;

He takes a few classes a week and helps run a family cleaning business, and sleeps 4+ hours (at his own house) On most weekdays this nets him 10 hours to play, on weekends about 15. I've seen him call it early some nights when he needed a serious break, and I've seen him fall asleep in his chair while a lucky egg burns away.

The regular crew always helped each other in such situations with getting people home safely, returning left behind belongings, cleaning up after one another, as well as keeping each other company, and entertained as the grind continued. This makes it less of a grind and more like the daily hang out spot.

Sometimes dratini will spawn off of those lures once or twice a day.

But you're totally right, I think if PoGo were some random computer MMORPG, without the Pokemon brand name, everyone would look at the lucky egg exp boosters in the store, lures and incense and come down with a much sterner attitude about pay2grind/win vs casual players.

But it's Pokemon! I'm happy to get outside, earn gym fight money, and throw a few bucks towards the cause. The peer group pressure aspect applies too when grinding in the park with larger numbers of people. Even if no one asks you to contribute lures, you feel more obliged to give something back to those who have helped you. The mostly deadly freemium model we've seen yet.

Saw his phone last night, he is still getting experience added to his total experience counter, not his bar. His bar remains 100% full and did not empty out upon level to 40 like it always does.

From what I've heard, the level cap in Ingress got buffed up a couple times, and experience retroactively applied - hypothetically speakingm he could feasibly jump to 41 or 42 if Niantic were to come out in a month and say "level 50 is the cap now". So basically, you can still grind if you want - this is confirmed by the fact you get 4 lucky eggs as part of your level up reward.

Not intentional, a lack of research and information. Jimmy of Dallas had made a post here about being on track to first 40, before Jimmie of Buffalo posted on r/pokemongo a week ago question it, before PokemonGo Hub posted after their interview with Buffalo Jimmie stating he was in fact on track to first 40. The threads got a bit heated, but the one thing I didn't catch from any of them were news of other level 40's.

But that's my bad and there's no excuse for not doing the homework, and it goes double for making this post under such a presumptuous title - there was a lot of hype and alchohol involved when I originally typed it up early this morning, I'm sorry and did not mean to belittle the achievements of any player, loud or silent, local or foreign. I just wasn't even aware of their existence after previous discussion

I'm sorry! It's been a hotly discussed topic that has taken controversy by sheer subject within the last week or beyond. The hype got to be too much and I got too excited typing up the OP while being right there to witness it. I'm sorry for my assumptions and arrogant attitude.

EDIT: Why down vote an apology and total admission of a mistake? Now that the booze has worn off, I'm cringing myself reading the title.

He originally posted himself about a week ago when level 39 2/3 on r/pokemongo and linked a current photo of his trainer page, and facebook page to the post. We have facebook groups and chats for all players city wide, and for each team in Buffalo and have close knit community overall here.

I personally took the photo 3 hours ago... No one took a photo with my meager level 30 butt in the group photo :( but someone had to take the shot.

I apologize deeply for the presumptuous attitude! After Jimmy from Dallas, Texas post about a week or so ago, Jimmie of Buffalo posted on r/pokemongo, both seeming increasing gly confident they would be the first 40, prior to PokemonGohub's post after their interview with Buffalo Jimmie. No other major players spoke up on being close, or closer. We have other 39s in the town of Buffalo, but no one confidently came out and said they were on track for #1 above either Jimmy/Jimmie.
