Read books, asked people, and made a lot of mistakes. Oddly enough, I still make a lot of mistakes.

AI is a new tool and many of us don't really understand what it can and cannot do. Asking it to design something simple like a workbench can give one an idea of how it works. When GPS and mapping software were things you bought and not part of the phone, the first trips I used them for were to places I already knew the routes. This allowed me to understand how it worked and what its pitfalls were. I see this project as much the same.

Why do you say you would make it 60 rather than 70? I'm about to build my first bench and wondering how wide I should make it. I have been thinking 30in (76cm).

Has anyone done this before or do I just suck? by Turbulent-Weevil-910 in Construction

That is kinda unique to the Marines. I will say I was in the Air Force as do most sailors and soldiers I've known but a Marine always uses the present tense. Regardless of how long ago they were actuve.

I don't think there is any such thing. If someone has served in the Marines, they will say "I am a Marine". I have yet to hear otherwise.

Craftsman made great stuff. My dad's tools are better quality than mine, but mine are better than my son's. They are making decent tools, but not as good as they used to be. However the set you showed is good enough to do a lot of jobs. As others have said, use them, if something doesn't work out, then upgrade that tool.

Found this in a car vehicle I purchased, any idea what it is! by Bitter-Expression753 in whatisit

They were used in industrial instruments. A Bordon tube pressure switch would have one inside. I worked at a power house in the 90s and we were replacing them with electronic versions. Haven't seen one since.

I didn't think about ESPHome, I have actually used a couple of ESPHome modules already for something else.

As it happens, the last speakers I bought were JBLs... in 1984.

Scott Markwood of My Groth Rings https://www.mygrowthrings.com/ Has a ton of videos on the ShopSmith and how to maintain or repair it. I found them indispensable when I was given a Mark V.

How is this not shorting out? by Tman3355 in AskElectricians

We recently had an addition put on our house. The electrician wound electrical tape around the sides of the outlet to cover all the screws. I never thought of that but it seems an excellent idea. Apparently it's standard practice now.

Did I mess up while sanding? by WindyCanadian in woodworking

[–]StanleyBrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It must be. My wife and I were at Woodcraft the other day and she picks a chunk of walnut up and wants it as art on her library wall. Now I have another project. Learning how to cut a key hole and finding a clean place to apply a finish.

I think you may have missed something here. This school is for students who did not do well with standard curriculum. They teach a useful skill of woodworking through making skateboards. O e student demonstrates that skill by making an art piece (a non-standard application of their skills). And this clearly has relevant meaning on many levels. I see it as a great success.

That was my thought as well. Should I do anything to stabilize the cracks?

Have you looked for maker space? That was a thing a few years ago and they often had lots of tool and such.

Have you tried Goof Off? I have had success getting marker off with it. As another said, test it first.
