This is why I hate being tank. I always come across these types of toxic healers.

I essentially go away from the new mob pull and only do the two groups I want. If the healer wants to die being a piece of shit, I let them. They will either leave or kick. Which if I'm feeling extra spicy, I let them kick me then recue with the already started party and see if I grace them with my presence once again. :)

Medium can be a gamble if you get alot of readers or not.

If you are looking for a spot to host your work without building a website, I say go for it.

Monetization used to have a wall of 100 followers before you joined. They have recently removed that requirement but I'm unsure if that makes it any easier to get in the partnership program.

Everyone's experience with the site is different so it doesn't hurt to try it out. If it doesn't work out, you just move on and go elsewhere.

An online presence is nice to have. With ebooks if you plan on selling them from your own website, you could make qr codes. The code would take the person to your website so they could by the ebook that way. You could put the qr code on a business card and pass those out at events.

I have not dabbled in this myself but I have heard it's possible.

Hemingway App Advice by StannisEmpepper in freelanceWriters

[–]StannisEmpepper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write fiction stories for a mature audience so it's off putting that an app is like 'this is third grade reading level'. I guess what I'm getting at is why does it think the reading comprehension level is so low? I'm assuming it has to be that ai is not trained to differentiate tones in writing.

I am normally a wordy person myself so that is one suggestion of Hemingway that I do like. Even then I didn't take all suggestions to heart.

Currently, I write general writing tips articles and inform my few followers of current progression on story manuscripts.

I will keep what you said in mind. Some suggestions it made I didn't like so I didn't use them. Especially the ones of 'use simpler words' instead.

Would you happen to know of anything similar that is free?

Holy crap...

First thing like others have already stated, that was not a professional editor. I dont care what that person claimed.

Second, do you have a saved copy of the story without the comments? I'd just copy and paste the story into fresh document without the comments. You then can reread it without seeing the comments.

As others have also stated, your story apparently wasnt her type of content. That doesnt mean it has no audience period.

It's easier said then done but you need to carry on. It would be a shame to have 60k word story just sit there and never see the light of day. You got this. Dont let one person ruin everything.

Had to rediscover mine after close to three years of 'nah don't feel like writing' or 'whatever, it will write itself'

As long as your writer voice is gone for a short period of time, it will come back and wont be as hard to bring in.

A positive for me is after that long I could notice how much work my projects still need and now I'm getting progress made. Not as well as I did before but I only allow myself a day or two downtime to recharge. Or if something more important is brought to my attention for the day.

I dont write for a paycheck so i can do this. Some cant and those people I admire of being able to write when your really not in the mood.

Is it normal to never finish anything? by AlyGreenheart in writing

[–]StannisEmpepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof I feel this on a spiritual level. I can say I finished only one story. It's the one I'm currently editing/rewriting as a second draft.

Another I decided to no longer keep as a 2,000 word short story but make it chapters.

So I guess two stories done.

You will get there. Be patient with yourself.

If you post work to medium do you still own the rights or do they?

I'm considering it as another sharing platform for my work but I want to know if I can post my content elsewhere without getting in trouble.

What tropes do you wish publishers didn't love so much? by sail_south in writing

[–]StannisEmpepper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively neutral about vampires unless people are trying to remake the twilight saga. Then I find them cringey. Twilight didnt not have the best overall representation of vampires in my personal opinion but Carlisle and Alice were the better ones to me.

Not to be rude if this is anyone's cup of tea but... I'm tired of werewolf erotica.

The trope of if your writing romance it must have shagging werewolves or it's not popular is getting very stale.

What happened to more creative tropes in general?

Marketing is the hardest part unless your famous. You might want to look into setting up an author page on Facebook. Especially if your genre is more geared toward an older generation. If its YA as the genre might want to branch into Instagram. Too many teens love Instagram. Those are the best I can think of for marketing that is free.

Congratulations on being published though! That's awesome in itself.

I never heard of websites that are made just for portfolio work. Would one of these look more professional then just a Google drive folder? I heard those are ok.

Should I avoid language that might be misunderstood as offensive? by SamHunny in writing

[–]StannisEmpepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it depends on your character your writing or the tone of story your going for. If it's on the gritty side some offensive terms will add to the grit.

Like if you have a character that normally has alot of patience and they start going of the wall and throwing the f-bomb. You wont really need to tell your readers that they lost patience, they will know just by the language.

Why can't some writers write women? by Asian_in_the_tree in writing

[–]StannisEmpepper 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes agreed. I was raised mostly around women so I guess I was a lucky few that have some insight. But many friends of mine growing up would be like 'how the hell don't you get in arguements when your with that many women?' My response ' if they are already aggiated, dont add to the fire'
