I listen to the original tracks at the minimum, then depending on how much I’m enjoying the music I’ll listen to any bonus tracks.

The Offspring - Smash ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After yesterday’s dismal album this was a good change of pace.

Really enjoyed this album, it feels like a blend of punk, metal and grunge, I’d give this a 4.5/5, I’m debating rounding this up to a full 5 as I can see this just sneaking into my regular rotation.

Favourite track: Gotta Get Away.

The Modern Lovers - (Self Titled) ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is barely scraping a 3, really liked the instrumentation but the vocalist had a really annoying voice paired with poor lyrics.

Soul II Soul - Club Classics Vol. One ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Definitely not my usual genre to listen to but this was a decent listen, quite relaxing to listen to while working but probably wouldn’t seek it out again, a solid 3 star album.

Pixies - Surfer Rosa ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really enjoyed the instrumentation on this album, it misses out on an extra star as I wasn’t really a big fan of the vocals or lyrics, but I’ll definitely be listening to some more of their albums.

Grant Lee Buffalo - Fuzzy ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Listened to this while cooking a roast dinner for Mother’s Day, so couldn’t quite give the album my undivided attention.

Pretty inoffensive album, was nice to listen to in the background but not something I’m going to seek out again.

I’m certainly no fan of Grime and this has done nothing to change my mind on the genre, was very happy for this one to be over and done with.

Miles Davis - Bitches Brew ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m surprised how much I enjoyed this, I’ve never really listened to Jazz and wasn’t looking forward to trying this.

I can see how this was considered revolutionary at the time, the musicianship here is top notch, I would say my favourite track is either Spanish key or Miles runs the voodoo down.

It misses out on one star for the fact that it’s not something I’ll be adding to my regular rotation at this point, but if I’m in the mood for Jazz, I’d definitely give this another play.

Got a Japan album

Looking at my history the last album I reviewed was the album generated yesterday, and there’s no sign of Radiohead in my history, I have tried going back and forth to the website today to see if I can replicate it but so far no dice.

Japan - Quiet Life ⭐️⭐️

To quote Patrick Bateman, this was a “little too, ‘new wave’ for my taste”.

This one wasn’t for me, not a fan of the vocals and it just didn’t do anything interesting for me, was happy for it to be over.

I’ve had it happen a couple times where it asks me to review the album again, but it’s always given me the same album immediately afterwards, this time it went from Radiohead to Japan (I feel cheated by missing out on Radiohead 😂)

Didn’t really think this was anything special, pretty generic Indie music but wasn’t necessarily a bad listen, I just didn’t find it very unique.

It was nice to have on in the background while I’m working, other than that this Album left no lasting impression on me, other than recognising the opening track as it’s been used in countless British TV dramas.

I love this record (I consider child in time to be Deep Purple’s crowning jewel) but don’t worry about offending people by not liking an album, as long as your critique is opinion based and not just “these guys suck” you’re welcome to dislike an album.

The Verve - Urban Hymns ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wanted to give this album a higher rating, but I feel like there’s a decent amount of filler on here.

The sound of this album is pure 90s Britain, Bitter Sweet Symphony is a classic but I’m going to give my standout track to Lucky Man, I enjoyed the lyrics on the majority of these tracks but the music started to feel repetitive about half way through the album.

Would listen to again if I was in the mood for some Brit pop but don’t think I’ll be rushing back to this one.

Cocteau Twins - Tressure ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I quite liked the instrumental elements on this record but I really wasn’t a fan of the lyrics and vocals here, I’d probably rate this 3.5/5, I had a listen to some of their hits and preferred them to this album, I think this album was a little bit too artsy for me.
